I have been pondering on writing this post for some time. There are countless astrology books out there and ultimately, they all have merit depending on your level of astrology knowledge or simply taste. To be honest, I did my best not to include my favorite “weird” books and to keep it mostly practical for those who want to get into astrology.
When you order a book through one of the links I get small commission from Amazon. Thank you for the coffee and enjoy the book!
The first book I want to recommend is not an astrology book in the traditional sense but is equally helpful. I find learning as much as possible about human psychology is often just as important. Astrology and psychoanalysis are, after all, corresponding fields of study. We owe the language of psychological astrology to Carl Jung (1875-1961). A good start and a favorite read of mine is The Archetypes and The Collective Unconscious. Familiar terms such as ‘archetype’ or ‘collective unconscious’ are presented in this wonderful and groundbreaking book. This one is for anyone interested in understanding human nature and the symbols surrounding us. A good foundation for natal chart readings.
The second book I wholeheartedly recommend is more practical: The Rulership Book by Rex E. Bolls and Chris Brandt Riske. This one is like the anatomy class for anyone aspiring to know astrology. It is that essential. I know several master astrologers who swear by it to this day…After decades of experience. If you want to master what planet rules what and what house- this one is for you. It reads like a dictionary and works great for both beginner and advanced astrologers.
The third book is more esoteric in nature and an enjoyable read. I admit I get giddy when I read anything by Stephen Arroyo. I just feel like he has a big heart and truly a spiritual perspective on things. Maybe it’s because of his natal stellium in Scorpio? Whatever the case, if you like to learn about astrology and spirituality, the book Astrology/Karma & Transformationcould be for you. I think this is actually one of the first books on astrology I read. Arroyo’s approach is positive and not all doom and gloom. That said, unless you are familiar with evolutionary astrology (astrology as a transformative journey of your soul), this book might not be your style. I had to include it because it makes me smile.
The fourth book is perfect for beginners! Sue Tomkin’s Aspects in Astrology: A Guide to Understanding Planetary Relationships in the Horoscope. The title says it all. This book is good if you want to start reading charts and feeling at ease doing so finally. It reads like a book you would get if you went to astrology school. It is very accessible and straightforward.
The fifth book on the list for those of you interested in Saturn from a Jungian perspective. Liz Green’s Saturn: A New Look at an Old Devil. Approaching the age of 29? It might be worth reminding yourself of the meaningful aspects of this often challenging time. Green writes beautifully, that is, if you like esoteric old-school language (I do). Oh, and it also has a section on Saturn in synastry. I think this book will resonate with those of you who have hard Saturn aspects Nataly. I remember giving it to a friend who had a very “happy” Saturn and she didn’t resonate as much. A good one if you are a student of mythology, psychology, and culture in general.
The sixth book is by the genuinely amazing astrology Noel Tyl (1936-2019). I was beyond saddened when he passed away recently. I truly wish I was older and had the chance to learn from him. My feelings aside, I chose a book of his that is truly a fun read and still educational: Astrology of the Famed: Startling Insights into Their Lives. I think one of the best ways to learn astrology is by studying the charts of famous figures—a fascinating read.
Not sure where to start?
A classic book is The only Astrology book you’ll ever Need by Joanna Martine Woolfolk. The title is ambitious, but this one is great for beginners and just a very harmonious book that covers a lot. If anything, it would make sure you would require many more books on astrology after you start delving into it.
The Astrology of how you appear to others and what makes you attractive is something I’ve observed most easily in the chart of actors. It is usually indicated in the states of the 1st and 10th house, while the 5th and 12th house would indicate acting ability and fame. It doesn’t mean people who have different careers can’t be attractive or famous! It just means that the chart would look different and have other indicators.
Are there indicators of physical beauty and attractiveness in a natal chart?
The answer is yes but we also know that Ideals of beauty change depending on time, culture, and context so there is no one indicator or ideal to look for in a chart. To make matters even more complex, beauty is often a result of charisma and expression of personality. The erotic energy of a person can also create an element of attractiveness that is not related to physical aspects. The attractive people we all know tend to be famous and related to careers in the realm of Neptune like film, theater, fashion and modeling. Therefore, indicators in their chart show work and fame in those realms. For example, charts of conventional fashion models only show indicators that they are very tall and very thin. Charts of actors have a lot of 12th house and Neptune emphasis. A very attractive doctor or teacher would have different indicators that are not fame dependent.
Today we would take a glance at a chart of several attractive famous personas and try and see the common patterns. For physical attractiveness in Astrology we usually first look at the following:
The state of the Ascendant and its ruler. The state of Venus and her ruler. The state of Mars and his ruler. Conjunctions between rulers of the first house, Venus, and outer planets. Emphasis on the outer planets: Pluto, Neptune, and Uranus.
Sun- Charisma and public persona. Moon- Expression and emotional aura. Mercury- Body language and facial expression. Venus- Style and overall attractiveness. Saturn- The bone structure and smaller body features. Jupiter- Fat and bigger body features. Mars- Sex appeal and muscles. Pluto- Magnetism and mystery. Uranus- Alternative fashion and persona. Neptune- Projecting an image and glamour.
Easy aspects suggest classic beauty and style and hard aspects express in more alternative or unexpected beauty. I will only use A or AA approved astro-data bank natal charts.
The Classic beauty or Water The first example is the classically beautiful princess Grace Kelly. We can see all of the traditional indicators of beauty in her chart.
Kelly’s Ascendant in Scorpio and its ruler Mars are the first house conjunct her Sun in an easy aspect to the modern ruler Pluto in Cancer. Scorpio and Cancer are both feminine signs and with an emphasis on the Self (Sun) in conjunction with the physical expression (Mars and Mercury) would project that feminine beauty for all people to see at first glance. Venus is in its traditional co-ruler of Libra, adding refinement, delicate bone structure, and a sense of style. The Libra Venus in the 12th house expresses through the projection of social dreams of what feminine beauty is. Kelly could create an aura of what was socially in style and what people wanted to see in her. Neptune in the 10th house square her first house would suggest it is a form of mystical image creating that brought her social standing. Neptune squares are very common in actors and models. As a whole, the chart has a grand trine in feminine planets and signs and in houses that emphasize expression and projection. This fits with the idea that her attractiveness is feminine and classic. It is a pleasant attractiveness that doesn’t challenge or frighten people. It is conventionally stylish and social ideas of gender roles. This grand trine also suggests that her talents and beauty come very naturally to her but can be misused by other people. Grand tines are talents but they are also often “weak” in terms of the native not controlling what they have. The control here is coming through society (1st, 9th, 5th house) and other people’s desires and projections. It also speaks of a very kind and soft personality that has a hard time saying no. That being said, strong sexuality (Scorpio stellium with Mars) and intense love nature (Moon in Pisces in the 5th house) is part of the hidden appeal. She was foremost a very sensitive person who could get easily hurt. Notice the color scheme is very Pisces-like:
The Edgy beauty or Fire
Our second example is going to be someone less “classic” and edgier so you can see the difference. Angelina Jolie is more known as edgy and even gothic in her beauty. The first easy indicator of beauty is her Venus conjunct the Ascendant in the sign Cancer. The first house is what we are known for and the sign Cancer is “the mother”. Having children and being nurturing towards people makes her more attractive. The reason her persona and physical appearance are almost more masculine, powerful and active is that her ruler (the moon) is in the warrior sign of Aries. Not only that but her Moon is part of a tight stellium in the 10th house of public image. Again, attractiveness is something all people know about her and it’s her persona. The stellium of Mars-Moon-Jupiter in Aries is square to her Saturn and Venus. This on the one hand makes her a “warrior mother for a cause” but on the other hand, makes her attractiveness more aggressive and even uneasy for some people. There is a tension there that comes through her body and more sharp features. Saturn rules the bones so this psychological tension comes through weight loss and a bony appearance. In her early years, she looked softer and rounded like a Venus in Cancer but with time and adopting her warrior mission she became muscular and thin.
Jupiter makes things bigger (like larger lips & Aries rules the head) Mars gives muscle tone and active persona (Lara Croft rile in movies) and Moon allows it all to express in a passionate manner. Sun in Gemini in opposition to Neptune in the 5th house of acting is another classic image-creating acting position. The most striking aspect that explains why her fashion and persona are more alternative and edgy is her Venus conjunct Ascendant square to Uranus in the 4th house. Likely, these fashion choices act out the lack of stability in childhood and the home and help her overcome them. She is a free spirit, very independent, and had to deal with males trying to control her behind the scenes (12h house) as expressed in Saturn squaring her Aries stellium.
The Boy Rebel or Air
Our third example is going to be James Dean (February 8, 1931 – September 30, 1955). He is known for his rebel without a cause persona and leather jacket. Amazingly, Uranus the planet of rebellion and the breaking of conventions is conjunct his Aries ascendant. Aries is the first sign rules young people and Uranus rules counter-culture and teenagers. Aries is young and boyish but also masculine and loves fast cars and adrenaline rides. His persona fits that counter-culture, motorcycle riding boy. The ruler of his Ascendant Mars is in the 5th house of creativity and short affairs. This suggests acting but also short love affairs and “free love”. Mars is square Moon in Scorpio in the 7th house which indicates an animalistic sex-appeal and intensity in behavior towards others.
Venus in Capricorn would add a more refined element and smaller body structure. It is close enough to the MC to suggest an additional indicator of attractiveness and being known for charisma. The nice trine to Neptune would add a romantic beautiful aura to the image. Neptune aspects add something other people can day-dream about and project their fantasies into. Moon in Scorpio in the 7th house of the other would also create a sense of other people projecting their own intense attraction onto Dean’s mysterious persona.
Charisma just charisma or Earth
Our fourth and last example is someone who is less conventional-looking. I chose Jack Nicholson who is charismatic and highly energetic. I do trust he has a Leo Ascendant even if it’s very early. Right away, we notice Pluto in the 12h house casting his shadow on the persona. Pluto would create a persona that is magnetic, sexy, mysterious and very intense. It creates an image of someone attractive but at times frightening and dominating. The 12th house is often associated with fame and the ability to project an image through the first house which comes in handy in an acting career. The ruler of Nicholson’s first house, the Sun is conjunct Venus and Uranus in the public 10th house. Venus in the sensual and attractive sign of Taurus while Sun and Uranus are in the masculine Aries. We see the planets fall in their “best” signs and are in conjunction. The conjunction is a hard aspect that can generate a lot of power and charisma.
Uranus in relation to the persona would make the appearance strange or a little erratic while Venus would tone it down to a more gentlemanly and sensual mannerism. Again, we see an emphasis on the outer planet conjunction to the persona planets in public houses. We can also note Sun-Venus-Uranus is square Neptune. This would be someone who is not conventionally attractive but electric, ,mysterious, and somewhat different. The attractiveness would come from the psychology (12h house) of their personality and the charisma of Pluto. They have an inner hidden battery that makes them shine.
Do you have any of these indicators in your natal chart?
If you have your Moon in Leo, you have a sun for a heart.
Your inner emotional nature is uniquely your own. I always say this is the Moon sign that is most likely to be unapologetically honest about their feelings. The reason for this honesty stems from the fact their strong will power and sense of self is reflected in their emotional world.
If you have Moon in Leo, you might not be always comfortable with emotional displays of even the concept of intense feelings but you are very aware that in some ways you wear your heart on your sleeve. The Leo Moon can be shy at first but would learn to hold itself to a high standard of conduct and expression. The things you feel get projected into everything you do and can’t be hidden. There is a child-like quality of self-centered grandiosity to you that wins people over.
You are selfish in that you interpret things through your own self-centered emotional needs. This is true about all people but because the Moon here is ruled by the Sun you are especially prone to that. This is an amazing strength because you are usually able to stay so centered in your own heart that no matter what is going on with the people around you and how they feel- you stay true to yourself. In that regard, the Leo Moon is similar to its opposite Aquarius Moon. Both of these Moon placements are very good at staying their own individual even when they are emotionally blackmailed by family, friends or lovers. You really have little respect for people who get too swayed by feelings to the point of losing self-respect.
There is something about you that is very warm-blooded and self-sufficient. You know deep down love belongs to us all and you seem to radiate an energy of tremendous creativity, passion and a playful lust for life. This quality makes you very attractive to people who are in a dark place and to other energy vampires. The fact that you have a strong connection to your inner child seems to make you even more vulnerable to people who just want to feast off your energy. Thankfully, your self-centered perspective allows you to get away unscathed and with your head held high even in situations when someone tries to dampen your mood.
The most charming quality you hold is this strange balance between a selfish yet vulnerable child and an old wise king. As you grow older you will learn better how to express your own feelings in such a way that brings the best in other people. In fact, this is probably the highest quality of the Leo Moon. These are the people who know how to lead by example and who seem to really become popular when they take pride in your own emotional well-being. Learning to be able to take care of yourself is probably the most important lesson for you. You need to stop searching for the light of approval f other people and instead spread your own light and perspective to the world. The most common way a Leo Moon does that is through some sort of imaginative creative pursuit and dramatization of their own inner world.
The creative talent is very prominent and many actors, musicians and theater directors have this placement. Even if you are far from the art world you are still likely to be a prominent figure in your own circle of subjects.
You can be shy at first especially as a child because it might seem you really can’t hide how large your heart is, it can be a sense of embarrassment to have your selfish needs to so loudly spoken. You will hide this part of yourself and channel it into an expression of some sorts that is more acceptable. This search for a more “acceptable” expression of your own inner king or queen often leads to some mastery of a talent. Still, your loved ones know how generous and genuine you are even if they might find you don’t always understand them so well.
You take pride in your early family and upbringing. In fact, even if your childhood was nothing to write home about you would still carry around a sense of accomplishment at having grown up the way you did. As a teenager it would matter for you to belong to a group of friends and have a supportive network around you. It can be said you hold friendships to be more important than romantic relationships. For you dating and romance is often a sense of passion. drama and upheaval that you can enjoy but don’t always value. You hurt the most when someone you love doesn’t respect your individuality and right to accomplishment. You are at your best a very supportive partner who wants to see the person you love role the world and follow their dreams. If that person doesn’t offer you the same sense of respect and supportive encouragement you would become very wounded. For you, respect maters a lot more than acts of service or any gift a lover can give.
Life should never stop being excited and colorful and no one should ever tell you that what you want is “too much”. In fact, you are not likely to tolerate that for very long. You have a generous spirit that is abundant with desire for the best in life and settling for less makes you very depressed. Many Leo Moon’s love the romantic early stages of a relationship but struggle with the mundane and regular aspects of actually living with another person. By nature you can be emotional or even shy but there is a confidence within you because you know you have purpose. You have the wonderful ability to embrace life fully in all its shades and to allow other s o also feel like they can do so.
The courage you have to just accept your right to life and all it offers is exactly what makes you a good leader, artist, lover and friend. On the flip side, it can be hard for you to truly see life from the perspective of other people and their emotional needs. In is therefore really good for you to have people around you to advice or offer insights into situations. You can usually trust your own heart to show you where to go but sometimes you get too caught in your own vision of what you want. Your inner world is that colorful exciting dream that you want to impose on reality. You warm the heart of those around you when you gaze in wonder at life. The flare you have for the poetic, dramatic and romantic make you survive through the cold days of a more gray and sometimes hard reality.
The twinkle in your eye is warm and inviting to all those who seek a sense of mission and importance in the world. Ultimately, you lead other people towards their own true Self and that makes you a natural leader and psychologist. You never bend down or become a servant of others unless for artistic purposes and that keeps you safe from anyone who wants to just use you.
As long as you stay on the path and keep yourself open to criticism and the experiences of others that are different you would shine and gain a creative support from the universe. You are after all a real child of light even if you like a darker dramatic flare on top of it.
Having Pluto in the 7th house means that you encounter your own power through other people. This is a bit similar to having Mars in the 7th house but less out in the open.
You are a person that has been made to reject your own power and your own sense of control over you life. It can often feel growing up that other people are trying to tell you what to do or manage your life in some way. I imagine in my mind the image of a young child star who is being yelled at by their stage mom to go and preform. I also imagine someone who had to learn very young that people don’t always play fair.
Relationships with other people are where you get to feel like you have something about you that is sort of like an invisible fighting spirit. You like to encounter people who challenge you in some psychological manner so that you allow your own muscles to flex and play.
Usually, you go through different extremes in your relationships. Sometimes you get dominated, controlled and even abused in some cases while in other cases you are the one who is in control.
Pluto in the 7th house is a great placement for investigative journalists, lawyers and anyone who works at uncovering the “dirt” in other people’s lives. You know so very well that everyone has secrets and you can make them talk.
There is an alluring sweet and seductive aura about you that makes you a magnet for all sorts of strange people and situations. You are attractive when you forget who you are and appear vulnerable. And yet! Anyone who dares underestimate you or think you are weak is in for a surprise. You are actually very powerful and capable and have an iron will that grows with age and allows you to do well in many areas.
As with many Pluto placements, there is usually a betterment over time. Early years could be full of conflicts with other people and authority figures. It is not advisable for you to talk about your success in public because you naturally arouse jealousy without meaning.
Pluto has been in scorpio for some time now and so we can assume you are a Taurus rising, at least for some of you readers. You are naturally physically pleasant and grounded in your body. You accept yourself as you are…Skin, fat, scars and all and wish other people were equally comfortable with their physical self. There is a natural beauty to you that doesn’t need anything artificial. You are sensual in your acceptance of sexuality as one would accept rain and snow. It is magical but natural to you.
In fact, you hate anything that is a lie or like plastic. You like things real, honest and natural and would not tolerate lying for anyone. You can be somewhat blunt and brutal for some types.
If you are still in the hurt stage of your life it could be you would have a hard time trusting anyone. Hopefully, you would grow to reclaim your responsibility to show other people what it is like to live honestly and survive anything. There is something unapologetic about you that seems to be almost feral in nature. It is not seen with open eyes..But if you close your eyes and turn the lights off…You shine like a bright beacon of courage.
Making commitments to another person like in a marriage can be a source of fear for you. You have learned people change and nothing stays the same and can’t imagine anyone being stable enough to accept your own changeable nature. You should probably give it a try and be surprised by the deep love you can have.
Don’t let anyone try and lower you into the gutter. Many people will try and make you cross a line and maybe even worse. Always stick by the laws and do what is right because you could fall from grace through other people, especially if you have an intimate relationship.
But you already know that, don’t you?
That is why you have a fear from getting to close and that is why you must know who is getting under your skin. Relationships change you and allow you to deal with al these feelings of being overpowered. Soon you will step into your own shadow and will see the Sun shine through at a part of you that you kept hidden even from yourself.
You can rule an empire so why are you letting another human rule you?
I want to mention that the 7th house is ruled by Libra and therefore this placement tends to be a bit sweet and light looking on the outside. It is not 8th house dark energy but more sugary. It is not a heavy energy but more of a dark spicy essence that is emitted into the undercurrents and is captivating in its allure.
The focus is about taking the trash out of society and shining light on certain aspects of human engagement, putting the dark dusty corners into the spotlight.
Love is a Battlefield is a Pluto in the 7th house song. I would like to think you would fight for love and the idea that love is something to be taken hold of.
famous examples: Rihanna. Remember Chris Brown? Now all we talk about is her company Fenty.
J. K. Rowling is another example. Writing about the dark side of things and bringing it into the light. She escaped an abusive relationship with her baby daughter and out of her depression wrote a book that changed the world forever.
I would like to share my own observations and thoughts on what makes a good composite chart. Many Astrologers don’t see it that way but this has been something I have learned over time and looking at many charts.
A composite chart is a chart of a relationship between two or more people. It is the magical chemistry that happens when two people become connected in a relationship. Personally, I found composite charts to be VERY important if people want to live together or marry.
Getting along or even falling in love with a person is not enough!
Both people are effected by the third entity- the relationship itself. Constant struggles in sex, finances, health, family relations and general quality of life is shown in the composite chart.
I want to say that a composite chart can work or not work depending on the people. The rules are very individual but what is important is that the relationship is significant, strong and long-lasting enough to grow into something. This post would show you examples of good composite charts.
So what do I like seeing in a composite chart of a couple?
Below is one of the best composite charts I have seen. It belongs to Paul and Linda MacCrtaney.
The composite they shared had a SUPER love-stellium of Sun-Venus-Mercury-Chiron and Pluto. That alone is an indicator of soulmates.
Additionally they have Jupiter AND Moon in easy aspect to this cluster of planets. To make this chart even more amazing (Maybe I’m amazed?) they have a second stellium of Saturn-Mars and Uranus. They really have a balance of something unique and creative and yet realistic. Moon conjunct Neptune show real soul mate connection and deep understanding of each other.
They did struggle from some tension between freedom and structure and maybe other people or strange situations trying to break them up. This is a perfect composite chart in every way. It shows hardships but very strong attachment and a bond based on love.
I want to see that your relationship is SIGNIFICANT. This means that all planets form aspects to each other and most importantly that there is at least one conjunction of planets. I don’t want to see planets with only easy aspects and no conjunctions. The best thing for me to see is a three or four planets together or what we call a stellium in astrology. This means this relationship is important and will have effect on the people involved.
I want to see the Sun conjunct Venus, Mercury, Mars or the Moon. The Sun is the life force of the relationship and shows what it is about. I want the sun to have a conjunction to at least Venus. This shows real love and getting-along ability within the relationship. The best relationships have Sun conjunct Venus, Mercury and another planet.
I want a Pluto or Saturn in easy aspect to the stellium or in opposition to it. Yes oppositions are good!
I want Jupiter to have easy aspects to it. This is very important because even if other things in the chart show arguing or other issues in the relationship, a well-placed Jupiter shows the couple can always share a common vision for what they want together. Jupiter also shows that at the end of the day these people are good for one another and this relationship would make them grow in a positive way.I want to see Saturn in a mix of easy and hard aspects. This show this relationship can take formal shape in reality and not just in the fantasy of the lovers. This is a good sign they will make a commitment even if the relationship gets hard. I am not too worried about hard Saturn aspects if there is enough to balance and an element ease to the relationship.I want the Moon to be in a good state. The best is if the Moon is making an easy aspect to the Sun. In some cases, a Moon in opposition to the Sun can also work well. Especially if the Sun is conjunct Venus as mentioned earlier.
What I don’t like seeing for a long-term relationship:
Hard aspects to Neptune and Uranus. This can work great for a creative relationship in the art world but Isn’t good for daily family life. I see this a lot on composite charts of singers and actors. These relationships can feel amazing but are rarely long-lasting. Moon conjunct Uranus or Neptune on the other hand is brilliant in most cases.
I don’t like a Moon that has only hard aspects. This means strong feelings and obsession but no ability to share same space when living together.
I don’t like seeing a composite chart with a Pluto theme if one of the partners is not natally Plutonian.
I don’t like to see that the composite chart speaks to only one partner. One-sided love is painful.
Another famous couple with an amazing composite chart is Beyonce and Jay-Z.
They have their problems but the composite indicates it is indeed a powerful relationship. Beyonce and Jay-Z share the same thing I keep seeing again and again in long-married couples.
They have SUPER-BIG love stellium in opposition to Mars. Saturn is square the stellium so this one shows a less easy connection but it means they would stay together no matter how hard it gets. They have a less romantic or easy composite compared to McCartney and Linda but it is also more powerful and rare. They have a lot of social power as aa couple as indicated y the focus of planets in Libra and the first house. They have a lot of secret sexual issues creating anger in their psyche as indicated by Mars in the 8th house. This suggests they both act in ways that are unconscious and impulsive and therefore hurtful.
They are also both very independent as indicated by the Venus and Moon conjunction to Uranus. This suggests that together they have sparks of creative energy that is very dynamic. They will stay together a long time as indicated by Saturn that is squaring all this love. They might feel a lot of duty to stay together even if secrets and hardships come up through the mars in the 8th house. What this also means is that being active and making money is an outlet that helps them keep the relationship. The Sun conjunct Moon suggests a real marriage of two souls- male and female. They were meant to be together.
What is the best composite chart you have seen? Do you have any indicators of true love in your composite chart?
To really learn more about composite charts I recommend Robert Hand’s classic book Planets in Composite (1975) . Hand really helped bring the art of composite charts to life and the book is an easy and practical read. You could probably read on your own after reading it.

If you have the square, conjunction and opposition of Venus and Saturn in your natal chart this article is for you.
These aspects differ in flavor and outcome but have a common theme that is important to acknowledge. What actually happens is that if you have these aspects you are a person that is very affectionate and caring about other people and you take your relationships VERY seriously. The problem is that for whatever reason usually stemming from how you grew up and your early social experiences related to what you value and your self-esteem you tend to kind of have misplaced affection.
You tend to withdraw from the other person you love just when the relationship starts to open up and actually offer you intimacy and connection. When the relationship becomes intimate you experience a sense of fear that this relationship needs to follow the RULES or you can’t follow your heart.
You really desire solid, good, reliable and loyal relationships. You care a lot and have a strong sense of what is right and wrong in society. You have very good ethics and ideas about how relationships should be like to be considered “good”, anything that is below that standard you won’t commit to.
You can have many relationships in your life that don’t fit the rules but you will never marry or commit fully unless they fit your idea of what is “right”. The sad truth is it is really a way of thinking is something you cling to because it is masking and hiding your own sense of VULNERABILITY.
These ideas you hold about relationships having to follow steps, stages, rules, morals is really a mechanism you developed over time to protect yourself.
You just don’t like fully marching into something that in fact really be good for you. You learned as a child and as a teen from several probably shaking experiences that connection to other people is at times scarring. You wanted to connect but it was blocked or someone to said you had to be a certain way to receive it.
Maybe you had to act like a responsible adult or maybe you just had to follow the rules someone else made to deserve the love you wanted. The giving from other people was blocked and so you learned love and care is conditional. You started to believe only if you followed a certain path you would deserve love. As an adult you now believe you need to hold a high standard for yourself and other people. The exact reason or way this showed in your life would depend on the signs and houses of Saturn and Venus.
Generally speaking, you have this sense of “I’m not good enough”. You may believe that only when or if you reach some goal you can start having the relationship you dream of.
“I’m not good enough until I…Have a career”
“I’m not good enough until I…Look better”
“I’m not good enough until I…Prove my talents”
There is always a reason why you or the other person is not good enough to fully open up your heart. The tricky thing with this aspect is that often you can become just us blocking towards others who want to get closer to you. Secretly you are deeply hurt or angry about how you were treated. Often times, you have a great relationship with someone especially if other indicator in your natal chart point to that until that person wants to fully hug you, love you and care for you and suddenly you recoil because the hurt part of you wakes up. That fear makes you start thinking how that person might actually not be trustworthy or “up to the standard”. This is your mind trying to protect you from what it remembered caused it pain.
I am not saying you shouldn’t have standards and protect yourself but if a relationship has proved itself over time to be good and loyal don’t let those thoughts take over. If you start thinking that your partner needs to prove themselves to you or follow some formal behavior that is SATURN at work.
The truth is no one will ever find love safe because love needs vulnerability.
Is it worth the risk?
I don’t think you should change who you are. I do think you should be aware of why patterns in your relationships repeat. The good side of hard Venus-Saturn aspects is that you are very capable of having high quality relationships that are long lasting and loyal.
I should also mention that often this can manifest in you choosing very irresponsible people who would eventually reject you or not want to commit. It is important to strike a balance between standards and an open heart.
Wrong person for a Venus-Saturn native: Irresponsible, childish, fearing commitment, lacking morals or goals.
If you find yourself choosing immature people who you need to treat like a parent or a boss this means you are trying to heal your own trauma and you still believe you are not good enough. Someone who can make you feel safe and you can rely on would help you make the best of this aspect.
I want to end this article by saying I don’t agree with Astrologers who say these aspects suggests you will always stay alone. It is true you can marry later in life or take time to do it. You may feel you need to wait or accomplish something in life first and that is okay. The important thing is to value yourself not for what you accomplish or only when other people say you are worthy.
If your rising sign at birth is Leo, your 7th house ruler is the electric, royal and innovative Aquarius. The 7th house is not only who you attract but what people come into your life to help you grow. Relationships would teach you how to relate to the world from a perspective that is concerned with community, groups and government. You naturally have something about you that makes people listen to you. Your close relationships would show you how to make fair use of that power.
It could be that you don’t care a lot about certain issues or ideas until you meet a partner that challenges how you view the world. The partner you would commit to (not the lover or short relationship) is a person who probably has some social status, be it good or bad, they are someone people know and notice. You would want a partner you can respect and who has their own individual opinions and who is not afraid to be themselves. It is also likely they would be annoying to you at first or that you don’t even like them right away. This is sometimes a classic hate-love romance drama that ends with a relationship that is playful, fun and exciting.
Because you hold yourself with a certain integrity people who are confident tend to be attracted to you. The partner would notice you in that setting where you show a talent or an ability. If you are very shy and quit, there is still something about you that makes you stand out in some area. You could meet that partner through some group in which you “shine” or an organization in which you volunteer. I always suggest that single people with Leo rising join in a community where they can show something they are good at. This is where you have good chances meeting a new person who would change your life.
Aquarius on the Descendent can create relationships that are a little dramatic or on and off, but not always. Many times it simply creates a very rich relationship that is full of conversation, learning, work or some creative project. Leo rising people generally do well on working with their partner and even making it a life mission. I would suggest looking where Uranus and Saturn are located in your natal chart to find out more.
For example, my friend has Uranus in the 5th house conjunct Venus (in Capricorn). She and her partner have a business together, he is an architect and she a designer. Someone with a lot of hard aspects to Uranus would find that relationships start very fast and end just as suddenly. In extreme cases the partner could be a “mad genius” or “political figure” who is very hard to live with. I also see that the partner could have some fame and status that is very appealing to you but eventually could take away from the intimate connection you seek.
The trick for you is to become so interested and good at something that you can be self-sufficient and happy on your own. There is a danger you would rely on your partner for some social power that does not belong to you. This is because your relationship is here to show you how to care about wider issues. If you are having a current struggle with a partner I would suggest to get interested in something that relates to humanity at large.
The moment you put your attention in that space…The relationship would become more stable. In similar fashion to the Scorpio Descendent, you would transform a lot through your relationships. It won’t be a deep psychological transformation but the kind that allows fresh air into your reality. You could meet many new people, change careers or move as a result of the relationship. Even if you stay in the same house and job, the relationship would make you see how your life fits within society and what you could do to become more connected to those around you. Most importantly, relationships make you more connected to your own individuality, talents and uniqueness.
Celebrities with Aquarius DC you can look into:
Selena Gomez, on and off relationship and her finding her voice through it.
Kate Moss, dating genius rockers and royalty. Finding her own space without them.
This aspect in Synastry tends to bind people together with an interesting effect. Because it is an opposition, it can often swing between different extremes; between enlightened love (Venus) and fear of vulnerability (Pluto). The emotional roller-coaster tends to bind the couple together because “we have been through so much and we are still here.” This is a typical syndrome for better and for worse.
This is a couple that together can learn a lot about being vulnerable and looking their biggest fears in the face. The Venus person learns that their love is valuable and can heal the pain and fear of the Pluto person. The Pluto person learns that love is not a weakness and over time becomes more protective, gentle and caring towards the Venus person. It is also true that the Venus person can act more Plutonian over time because they learn that the Pluto partner does not always respect “softness”. The real key lesson here for Venus is not to fall prey to this scenario and still stand by their values. If Venus allows the Pluto person to dominate them in the relationship, they will in effect only escalate the bad behavior of Pluto. Venus must stand strong in its conviction that is it lovable and beautiful no matter what.
Pluto who is secretly very deeply attracted and magnetized by this promise of true love will learn to open up and let go of controlling behaviors. Of course, a lot depends on the state of these planets in the natal charts of the individuals. Nevertheless, even in relationships that don’t last long, both partners transform on a deep level and learn a lot about what love means to them.
I should also add that these relationships tend to be very compulsive in the early stages. The couple knows that something unique and deep is at play but they can’t articulate it. They might feel that there is a potential for something powerful. Venus can feel that a great deal of protection, devotion and care is possible, while Pluto might feel that finally they can share their dark side with someone who won’t run away. This is also one of those aspects that like wine gets better with time. So if you are struggling I would suggest both partners take a step back and ask themselves what they value in the other person. Sometimes the intensity of this connection can be too overwhelming so being able to take time apart is important.
People with natal Pluto aspects would find it more familiar (not easier) to deal with this opposition. The Pluto person is going to struggle with their worst nature coming into play, even if normally they are the sweetest person around. Venus knows how to push the buttons of Pluto too! The magical charm of Venus is often very self-indulgent and not always willing to go into the deep dark waters of Pluto. Pluto mostly struggles with a lot of old baggage and fears that don’t relate to the actual relationship.
At the end of the day, this aspect requires a lot of self-honesty so that both partners don’t misuse the power they hold over each other. The reward is a truly intimate relationship that is strong like an armor. A couple that manages this aspect in a constructive way can withstand struggles and anything thrown at them and still stay together. I would note, that it is important that this couple doesn’t only stay together because of the difficulties they survived or the amazing sexual connection. The Synastry chart must have some additional aspects that allow space for fun, play and softness. We are all vulnerable and sometimes it is alright to not go into our pain and take a break. My last suggestion is that the couple openly talk about their fears so they don’t simmer under the surface and erupt into struggles later. Overall, this aspect is very passionate, intimate and healing.
Chiron in our chart is that painful itchy spot in our psyche. It is that place where we feel most vulnerable and least capable of dealing with rationally. I don’t think it ever stops hurting…But we learn to deal with it better.
We must remember we ALL have our pain to carry. I think Chiron calls for acceptance of that wound, allow it to scar and wear it to battle with pride. Sometimes it will have bad days, it will burn and hurt to the bottom of your soul. Some days you can look at it and be proud of how far you have come- regardless of the pain. You will only see the scar but it will be numb.
What about healing you ask? Well, Chiron is often our most “wise” aspect. It shows us great pain but also the reasons for it. The healing is made of acceptance and wisdom gained… At least in my experience, completely healing a Chiron wound never means not experiencing it again. Instead, I find the potential for healing has more to do with other people. Chiron shows the area where you can help other people heal. That has been my experience of it. I have Chiron in the 11th house, so friendships/bullying in groups are the areas of pain. I become like a small weak child it those areas when that wound is reopened. This is usually related to childhood conditioning and “triggers”.
My healing of Chiron is about wanting and knowing how to help those people in society that feel “different” and strange. Having known the feeling myself I know what they need and feel very passionate about protecting people who are bullied. So yes, Chiron is both that small scared child and wise old man.
In a natal chart, I would definitely pay attention if you have Chiron conjunct an angel or aspecting other planets. Transits too can show you how your Chiron story tends to play out.
Chiron in the first house: Your greatest wound is related to your sense of identity and importance. Early life experiences didn’t allow you to express your personality in a way that fits what you want to convey. You may have been bullied or ridiculed as a child. You appear vulnerable to other people.
Chiron in the second house: You have a lot of pain around feeling safe and secure. You may lack the structure of support to feel like you have a place to fall on a rainy day. You may hurt over matters of self-value and stability.
Chiron in the third house: You may have felt inadequate in school. Maybe had speech/learning hardships. Teachers and neighbors may have been too harsh. You have pain over being misunderstood.
Chiron in the fourth house: You have pain about your family roots and past. Maybe your relatives have big problems that effected you. The family may have been too weak to defend and take care of you.
Chiron in the 5th house: You may have received backlashes from people when expressing yourself. You have pain around your creative impulse and individuality. Something may have happened when you were letting your guard down and “having fun”. Romance may be an area where things got twisted.
Chiron in the 6th house: You have pain about being of service to other people. Maybe daily chores and things that seem mundane cause you a lot of anxiety. The pain is around getting things done and worrying about health.
Chiron in the 7th house: Your relationships may have caused a lot of painful conflicts. You seem to get uncalled for reactions from others. Long-term intimacy is you vulnerable area. You also really seek approval from other people when in a low place.
Chiron in the 8th house: You have pain around secrets/ family money and values. Sex is an area you understand well but can get lost in. Hidden forces cause you fear or trigger obsessive responses/addictions.
Chiron in the 9th house: You may have felt you are not smart enough. Your personal philosophy may not fit in. You may reject the idea of higher education. You have pain around feeling free to do and go where you want. You have views that make you an outsider.
Chiron in the 10th house: You may have pain around your status in society. You may feel no matter what you achieve you are still not deserving. You may take a hit to your image when you feel your strongest. You can’t join the “high” club (in your mind).
Chiron in the 11th house: You may have pain around friendships and groups. Groups may be a source of rejection or bullying. You are an underdog. Groups cause anxiety.
Chiron in the 12th house: You have deep pain that comes through in dreams and messages. You have pain about society and some unknown truth. Fears that come through the veil of existence.
A sparkling fountain of dreams…Some of them broken others taking wing.
This is a truly enchanting natal placement if somewhat elusive. Venus strives to own beauty as it sees it, co-ruled by Taurus and Libra, the beauty of Venus is that of the sensual kind or the esthetic abstract ideal.
Think…The scent of rich perfume (Taurus) or the glossy bottle holding it (Libra).
What would a Pisces Venus do with the bottle? It will hold the perfume bottle and admire it and then drop int on the ground and watch the shards of glass sparkle in the sun, musing about the brokenness of all beauty…You get the picture.
Pisces is not about ownership but about letting go. Venus in Pisces appreciates what can not be captured or owned by regular means. It enjoys the elusive ideal that can’t be defined.
More than anything it enjoys atmosphere of enchantment and fantasy, This can be captured through artistic means like photography, music, poetry…Often something slightly dreamy and sad about it. Venus in Pisces enjoys the process of making the sensual and factual into something more- by elevating it into realms beyond the mundane.
Because Pisces Venus is ruled by Neptune, the love life of these natives is often wrought with misunderstandings and broken hearts. If Neptune makes hard aspect to personal planets it can create a yearning for soul union that is too strong to be realized with any mortal human.
Even if Neptune is well aspected in the chart, some elements of this story will sound familiar: Falling deeply in love, being disappointed, finding out it was all a lie…
On the other hand, this Venus is a true heart breaker itself. Why? Because the love it gives may at first be directed at one person but ultimately it is directed towards humanity, it is not a personal possessive kind of love. It doesn’t want to own another person or be owned in return. It may seek deep true love and connection, be generous and giving, but at some point it won’t feel right.
If Venus in Pisces is not mature it can attempt to find all that “humanity” in one person. They may elevate the person they love to a godly status. Imagine living up to that!
If it is mature, it will instead give love to the person they care about well still keeping some of their heart for their ideals and dreams. They may learn to balance soul-union with a healthy detachment.
This Venus thrives in its ability to be somewhat detached. No matter how difficult things get it can find true joy and beauty in something higher.
The ability to elevate anything into a fantasy makes them talented artists and creators. They can make great filmmakers of example (Neptune rules filming) or even actors. Certainty, they are very compassionate and care a lot about people ( as long as it is not one person) so various professions that involve caring for the sick and needy suite them.
This Venus is a better placement for females- at least in current society. Venus in Pisces Males tend to want to rescue a female that has fallen from grace (have you seen Pretty Woman?) or they can stay bachelors for a long time as no woman fits their ideal of love. In a female chart it will give grace to the expression of affection.
I hope I managed to paint a picture of this Venus: It may create an enchanted forest- a true a dream of beauty but it always has its darkness. It is the kind of darkness like a siren: Enchanting but leading to a bottomless nowhere…
This charm works wonderfully in the realms of art and in it’s ability to inspire compassion in humankind. Yet, it stands somewhat alone and lonely within our world. The enchanted forrest can’t always stand the light of day.
This is at the core of all Pisces Venus needs – finding a concrete structure to support it. It can be done through embracing a spiritual path or joining in with something larger. For example, with a group of people working towards a common ideal. It will depend on the placement of Venus in the chart to see what path is best.
The support is crucial as the dualism of Pisces can make it flow somewhere…but get to nowhere every time.
This Venus is sensitive but can always move on to brighter waters. It is flexible like that…And always hopeful. In this sense, it is a very powerful placement and can survive emotional wounds time and again.
