Breaking the 7th house pattern and becoming your (whole) Self

Did you know that your 7th house shows events in your life?

You come into this world with certain qualities. You are not born as a blank slate because from the very first day of life you have a particular orientation towards reality. As a result, you encounter certain events and situations which create and confirm your basic personality. That makes sense considering that the 1st house is symbolic of the Self and its 7th house is the world. The 7th house confirms that the world is a certain way and that your role within it is specific to you. This movement between perceiving the world in a certain way and having that perception confirmed in different situations is what gradually makes you…Yourself. For example, if your ascendant is in the sign of Libra, you may see the world as a place ruled by Mars.

The world to you is full of ambitious, often selfish, even aggressive people that get things done. Your perception is always confirmed as correct because you position yourself as someone who cares about keeping social harmony and doing things more diplomatically. However, you keep encountering people who try and step into more direct conflict with you. The world seems to always push you to be more assertive, direct, ambitious and quick to react. Now, there are two ways you can react to this. First, you can decide that you want to step even more into your Libra qualities. You may put more effort into getting along with people and pleasing them. You will keep trying to avoid and run away from confrontation and the “Aries” events the universe throws at you.

Over time you will only attract more and more situations that force you to take a stand or fight for something you care about. The events will become more aggressive and difficult to ignore until finally, you step into accepting that the unattractive Aries qualities are not only within other people but also within you. This realization breaks the illusion of the 7th house because now you perceive the world in a more balanced way (pun intended, Libra). You see it as a place where getting along with others matters but knowing when to fight and take a stand is also good. What happens next? You finally see yourself not as Libra acting in an Aries world but as a person that can pick and choose how to reach and what kind of events to participate in during various times of life. The 7th house spell is broken and you become your full Self. You are now stronger and wiser and the world no longer appears like a threat full of aggression and conflict.

You can be the judge of how in tune you are with your 7th house. Ask yourself what do you think about the world .What is it like? What are most people like?

Try and write down simple words and qualities that spring to mind. Don’t judge your answers but try and see if they fit a particular sign. Now, flip your answers, write the opposite qualities to the sign, and see if you identify with it more. For example:

“I see the world as a place that is unsafe and where things can always go wrong. People in it are very powerful and can become dangerous if I anger them.”
“I see the world as a place full of irresponsible people but also as a place full of magical possibilities and art.”

Guess which sign is which?

Some people identify more with their 7th house and reject their first house qualities. This happens if the Sun is weak or if they have planets in the 7th house. It can be hard for some people to accept the vital part of them that wants to shine and interact with the world. They will often fear appearing or being selfish. In other cases, a person admires the 7th house qualities to the point of idol worship. They find friends or celebrities that they worship and fit the qualities that they secretly have within them. The key to a more balanced life is often about the expression of your energies within the world arena. It is about allowing yourself to express your core personality and not reject it.

No living human being lives in a fully balanced state. No one really can always have a complete balance between themselves and the world. The conflict between staying true to who we are and finding our place among other people and their dreams, needs and personalities make life exciting and full of growth. However, learning to accept and use what we either reject or admire in other people will allow us to be ourselves with more authenticity and less inner criticism.

Aries-Libra: To do my will in the world and not lose my connection to spirituality and others.

Taurus-Scorpio: To belong to myself but also to other people.

Gemini-Sagittarius: To search but also reach understanding.

Cancer-Capricorn: To be safe but also sets out of my comfort zone.

Leo-Aquarius: To leave a mark on the world but also support the creativity of others in my group.

Jupiter in the 12th house: The Visionary

Jupiter feels at home in the 12th house but he is also shrouded in a strange mystery that doesn’t allow it to shine directly. The desire to belong to something bigger propels you to seek the mysteries of life like a scientist of the universe. Space and the stars will magnetize your vivid imagination, stories belonging to old tribes will make you smile and the animals of the world will soothe your tired soul. Nature is your friend; books are your teachers and old mentors are guiding you towards a vision of a perfect world.

If your Jupiter is in the 12th house, you inherited gifts from your ancestors that would encourage you to have a disposition of compassion, empathy, and wisdom. You will learn to become a teacher to others who lost their way or feel like outsiders in life. You will show people how intellectual isolation can be meaningful and empowering.

Jupiter here can mean that one of your ancestors had BIG DREAMS to receive higher education, practice their forbidden faith, or publish their work. However, that dream did not work out and it is now your mission to fulfill it. Maybe the ancestor lived in a country where their ideas and faith were forbidden or perhaps they did not have the money to pursue their aspirations.

Because your life philosophy is so unique, you will often feel alone and like no community shares your ideals. The experience of being an outsider would actually help you spend a lot of time contemplating, learning and reading. You will become confident in your idea of truth and you wouldn’t care if people agree with you or not. There is a confidence that comes with this Jupiter that can surprise people. Even if you are fearful and shy, you will be very sure that your vision matters.

You will often daydream and escape into your ideas. Sleep is your favorite time of day because you need to travel outside of the prison of your body and mundane life. You could be prone to escaping into the future or how things ‘should be.’ This protective mechanism helps you feel like you are part of something bigger. In the internet age, you will spend a lot of time online researching and exploring what other people believe and what the collective dream of the current generation is about.

You often have alternative beliefs or spirituality that you keep a secret from your family and friends. You actually like to keep your genuine opinions private unless you feel safe to share them. You can also rely on older mentors to help you out and seek teachers wherever you go.

This Jupiter is fortunate in having people secretly say good things about you, which gives you a career boost from behind the scenes. For example, an older mentor may push others to hire you or give you a scholarship. This happens only if you use Jupiter to be of service. This means you need to stay humble and always show kindness to strangers. The strangers will actually end up pushing you forward in society. You can also benefit by being seen helping, teaching, and guiding others. If life is hard, please try and seek the option to shine in these roles and make sure that you do so “in secret.” This Jupiter shines when it keeps to the behind-the-scenes arena.

Jupiter here is also very moral and very aware of any injustice. There can be a tendency to help those in isolation because you know how they feel. You seek society’s underdogs because they make you feel at home in the strange land or modern life. You can perhaps efficiently work at a prison, a psychiatric hospital, an ashram, or a faraway land.

In fact, Jupiter in the 12th house often moves far, far away…And gains success in a culture that is overseas. They often feel that they can be honest about their aspirations only in another country. They also do very well living in peaceful surroundings and places of knowledge. That is why universities, labs and religious institutions attract them. However, they often hide their abilities and it is not easy for people to see how much the Jupiter in the 12th house knows. The aspects to Jupiter will show how they can express it best.

Jupiter here is wise. These people are always intelligent and cultured. The 12th house is the house ‘beyond life,’ and these people carry a lot of knowledge that is impossible to explain. If they are visionary (Neptune-Moon), they can predict the future. If they are smart (Jupiter-Mercury), they can teach spiritual topics or philosophy. If they are joyful (Jupiter-Venus), they attract money and love. If they are hardworking but optimistic (Jupiter-Saturn), they become leaders and scientists. If they are rebellious (Jupiter-Uranus), they become political activists. If they are open-minded dreamers (Jupiter-Neptune), they become rock stars and artists.

In fact, ALL Jupiter in the 12th house people are very non-judgmental. They tend to have an open mind about most topics and they cultivate acceptance and curiosity. They tend to observe situations and people before making a moral judgment. However, they lack boundaries for their vision, which can sometimes make them impractical or too generous. Learning how to filter their personal vision and the vision of the mob can be a challenge. If they spend a lot of time learning alone, they can achieve confidence. However, if they spend a lot of time online or in a spiritual community, they can become drained. Therefore, they need to balance their personal vision with the collective mob. This is hard because they want to expand their vision and don’t mind adding other people to their dream. For example, they may seek to solve a social issue and have a clear plan for how it can be done, but they become confused if society doesn’t want it. That is why time alone is crucial for Jupiter in the 12th house person to reconnect to their inner vision and voice without the chatter of society.

The best way to describe the Jupiter in the 12th house would be Carl Jung’s description of Ni:

Introverted intuition apprehends the images which arise from the a priori, i.e. the inherited foundations of the unconscious mind.

The Jupiter in the 12th house have an inner vision they inherited and it is based on the collective baggage of images, dreams, ideas and beliefs of all human kind.

These archetypes, whose innermost nature is inaccessible to experience, represent the precipitate of psychic functioning of the whole ancestral line or pooled, experiences of organic existence in general, a million times repeated, and condensed into types…

They do not always know how to put that information into action or what it means. They just know something without knowing why or how.

Since the unconscious is not just something that lies there, like a psychic caput mortuum, but is something that coexists and experiences inner transformations which are inherently related to general events, introverted intuition, through its perception of inner processes, gives certain data which may possess supreme importance for the comprehension of general occurrences: it can even foresee new possibilities in more or less clear outline, as well as the event which later actually transpires. Its prophetic prevision is to be explained from its relation to the archetypes which represent the law- determined course of all experienceable things.

They can see the future and how events unfold but they can also make mistakes because they are so impacted by the fears, events and feelings of humankind. That is why they need to isolate. They can also connect one idea or vision to all the other visions and make it make sense. This makes them amazing researchers, scientists and politicians. However, the data can sometimes be too foggy to relate to people so they prefer ABSTRACT communication like art and metaphor.

These people are prophets with shifting visions and deep insights that come from beyond. They are here to teach us.

Famous Jupiter in the 12th house natives are visionary, artistic and can get the crowd to share in their strange dreams:

What you want is what is takes: Natal Mars in Aries

Mars is not given enough credit. It is the fire in our soul that propels us forward towards our goals. If Mars is sleeping our energy is low and our willpower dormant.

Mars is at home in the first sign of Aries, although in my experience, it is not really all that at ease here because the energy is so high and hard to direct towards work. Regardless, Mars in Aries is amazingly powerful not only for itself but for others around the person. Why? In part, because the shadow side of Aries is the sign of Libra, which is all about other people. Therefore, Mars in Aries has an energy that can motivate others and make them follow. If your Mars is in Aries, you are a pioneer at heart and someone with very passionate wants and desires. Your own passion is contagious because it is so pure and earnest that others cannot help but be swept away by your will. You have a way of making other people aware of what they want and were afraid to pursue. This ability makes Mars in Aries an excellent leader who can convince people to get up and move. Mars in Aries is all about “think first act later,” and because the action comes first, there is very little place for fear. In many ways you have the courage that comes with not taking the time to think of the dangers of your actions. This is not a criticism but something to consider if you feel that your actions go against your long-term plans. Aries is all about starting projects and pioneering ideas and not so much about the details of the result. Your Mars will thrive at starting things and leading others to take care of the long hours or details of the project. One reason for this is that your physical energy comes out in bursts of tremendous power that burns out really fast. You can exert a lot of energy but only for short periods. The tenacity of an earthy Mars is not here. This is important to keep in mind when choosing a profession so that you are allowed to work hard but with many breaks in between. In addition, your physical reserves are directly tied to your libido drive. This means that a lot of your motivation comes from what you want. You see something you desire and you act. You cannot act unless there is something you desire. Freudian psychology is not accepted any longer but the idea that human beings are propelled by desire rings true for this Mars.

This can be a strength because you can learn how to motivate yourself from within. You must always have something that you really want but feel like you can’t have. You must feel like a hunter for a treasure to get yourself off the couch. This is fire energy and it needs to air. Air might not be what one thinks of when thinking desire but you can imagine it as the wind that stirs the ship that is the heavy and child-like Aries Mars. Because here is the thing with desires: there must be selfishness for it to even exist. Selfish is not a bad word because our selfish needs can be used for good. Mars in Aries must be selfish or it becomes truly difficult. An Aries Mars that is trying to hide away rom what it wants starts to get into all sorts of trouble in the from of anger and conflicts with people. He will start to find others very annoying because he will project his own selfish needs onto others. He will attract all sorts of very irresponsible and impulsive people to remind him that he needs to finally take action. Because in addition to desire, you are motivated by the need to fight against something. This is true even if you re the most gentle and unaggressive person. The need to have an enemy to battle is there for you and can be expressed as fighting for a cause or debating people. It depends on the chart and the house Mars is playing in.

Aries is the baby of the zodiac and it is like a young James Dean on a motorcycle. It needs to be on the move and likes speed. Your Mars can propel you forwards if you want something or if you have to fight someone. Otherwise, this Mars, like the child he is, is pretty tame and easy to get along with. You have sparks of energy and moments of excitement that are unbelievably powerful but the rest of the time you keep this energy to yourself. This also applies to your anger which can be almost playful, like a puppy learning to bite. I am not saying you are not secretly a wolf…But you fight for something before you learn you even have teeth that can hurt others. You have no awareness of your own strength until you use it. That is why sometimes this Mars has fears around its own strength and around taking action.

There can be situations when you are younger when you underestimated your powers and someone got hurt. This can happen during a game, a competition or just a moment of anger. It will take maturity and time before you can know how you impact other people. Aries is the child and like any child, he is not always aware that his actions can be separate from others and really make a mess. That is why this Mars can really use some form of sports or games that allow him to learn how to use it’s strength with an awareness of the results so they can learn how to calculate their aim before they act. The stereotype that Mars in Aries is always into sports is not always true. Still, they can always use some form of playful competition or group activity to exercise their passion without any real-life consequences. However, this Mars will still have bursts of physical energy that need an outlet in some form, even if it hates sports.

Mars in Aries makes a wonderful friend in times of depression because he can cheerlead even during an apocalypse. Mars is related to vitality and it can breath life even into a dead idea or project. As a friend this Mars will always be quick to forget any grievances and there to encourage you to take risks. He will breath life into your sleeping dreams and remind you to be fearless. Sometimes if there is nothing to do or if all it’s efforts are in vain this Mars can become a waling bomb of irritation. Luckily, it is easy enough to resolve once he has leeway to play or express enthusiasm. It is really important to never tell Mars in Aries what to do. Although it does not react well to orders it does react well to challenges. Want Mars in Aires to do something? Tell them they can’t do it or it is too risky. Most of the times they will try and prove you wrong. Strangely enough positive encouragement can be very toxic for Mars in Aries. They may feel it is pointless to put in effort if already everyone is happy with the result. They don’t; see the point of extorting energy towards something unless there is some element of pioneering or excitement involved. Ideally, there is a responsible boss that challenges them to get a team of people to put in effort toward something creative and fun. Mars in Aries is very independent but it also needs some level of behind-the scenes guidance. It needs either an enemy or a prize at the end of the journey to strive for.

In romantic relationships, Mars in Aries is very earnest and straightforward. It likes to feel like the other person is willing to “play” and even compete with them, just as long it is still a respectful and fair competition. This is true of both genders, who like to feel like they can experience their strength through interaction with the other person. They need to respect you and know you can stand up to them and not let them walk all over you. They want an equal partner in crime to join them in a team effort towards their dreams. In fact, they would really enjoy it if you both feel like criminals on the run against the world. It is the kind of scenario they find attractive. They can also challenge you or start debates to feel the passion coming to life. You need to feel at ease and know they don’t mean you any harm. They just want to play. You can constantly challenge them to stop starting things if you want them to stop. Just tell them they can’t do it and watch Mars in Aries become a peaceful dragon.

Appearance wise Mars in fire tends to give a glowing skin that seems to stretch over the muscles and strong eyebrows or jaw-line. Mars in Aries can be into sports and have an impressive physique but they can also lose motivation and have periods of being in-active.

Needs: To act fast while the passion is there, independence, small daily challenges and movement.

Hates: Slow and leading to nowhere plans and dishonest interactions where anger is under the surface.

Loves: Excitement, speed, chasing and hunting for something. Open war fare that ends up in friendship and love.

Famous Mars in Aries:

Prince famous for his raw sexuality and music. Mars rules his creativity and romantic relationships.

A Gemini Sun in the 8th house with Mars in Aries and Pluto on the MC. Pluto and Mars rule creative career and show crisis around that area.

Angelina Julie famous fro her action roles

Mars rules her 10th house and public image, Mars is conjunct Moon and Jupiter so indicates fighting against injustice and being a fierce mother.

Gemini Ascendant: the old child

Gemini Ascendant people tend to hide a high level of intelligence under a mask of playful cleverness. They often don’t like to sound or appear too serious in public and prefer to communicate their ideas in a more accessible manner. Often, they have a very vivid ability to convey a lot through body language! They make great impressions of accents and characters. They are quick thinkers and avid book readers and possible musicians and writers. They collect information and knowledge about their environment at lightning speed. They need someone to bounce ideas off of and enjoy playing devil’s advocate.

People matter a lot to them and their friends may take a central role in how they feel. This is because they can easily feel blocked if they have no one to share and “play” with them.  If they can’t express or speak up about what is on their mind they tend to become depressed.  Some Gemini’s rising people are less verbal and more visual but even in that case, they might express well through poetry. They go through phases of being very chatty and silent as a stone. They are generally not too emotional and don’t care to protect their heart. In fact, they care if something is “interesting” not if something is morally right or if it feels good.

In the sense, they are not selfish people because they are less focused on indulging their feelings. Yet, their morals are easily clouded by that same search for meaning. The journey can take a central stage not the destination. This makes them very open-minded but not always consistent. Even the most dogmatic and idealistic types tend to become disillusioned with their beliefs at some point along the years. They tend to be social chameleon’s that are hard to truly get to know. They will not show the same face to two different people. That makes them usually highly popular and well-liked because they are fun to be around.  At the same time, people might feel confused and unsure where they stand with the Gemini rising.  They may never know if they are truly liked or just tolerated for the sake of “interest”.

Over time, a Gemini rising will develop a more solid conviction about the world and their place in it. They tend to stick to the big important ideas and are very loyal to making an impact by communicating those convictions. As you can guess, Gemini rising people have a natural talent in politics and can use that to their advantage. They are brilliant at juggling people and can be very appealing. Like a child caught stealing cookies, they have a natural appearance of innocence that gets them out of trouble. They tend to have something pure and youthful about them, they’re eyes are often clear and sparkling with mirth. Their body language expressive and lively and their energy infectious. The men are usually tall, with lean long limbs and a high forehead. The women have a doll-like sweet appearance and a delicate body. Many enjoy dressing up in costumes or changing their appearance into something more exciting and colorful.

Sagittarius rules their 7th house, therefore they need to balance they need to information with bigger (Jupiter) convictions and beliefs. They must have a larger vision that directs them in life…Some bigger goal. They may seek this direction in a foreign culture or by going on a journey. Doing this will be highly beneficial to them and help them understand what they are really looking for. Dating a partner that makes them have a new larger view of life is very attractive to them.

If we continue and look at the signs that rule the houses we can see other patterns emerge. The 2nd house is ruled by Cancer, this means that Gemini rising people have a sentimental spot for their family. They may show a side that is more feeling only towards those closest to them. They have a lot of memories from childhood that makes up their sense of inner security.

They can become nostalgic for their childhood and all the games they played. It also means that they have a good instinct for money and making it come to them. They may dream of a big warm happy home for themselves.

The 3rd house is ruled by Leo, this means they need to shine and be heard. They need a public to hear them out and listen to their ideas. They could have some ego battles with their brothers and sisters. Yet, they are also somewhat proud and protective of their extended family. They may have had crazy adventures during school years…And played some pranks or got into battles with bullies.

The 4th house is ruled by Virgo, probably they learned a lot of their communicative ability at home. One of both of the parents was very well learned and passed that on. As adults, they expressed this wisdom and knowledge in a different way. Maybe they rebelled against the more heavy and structured way information was passed on by the family. They may have disliked the rules and details that were forced on their mind. The home was probably nurturing to them on a low level. Thye may have got what they needed but at some point felt they needed to leave and achieve their dreams.

The 5th house is ruled by Libra, this means they are very adept at social gatherings and have a beautiful way of expressing themselves. They are also romantics and enjoy the “game” of love. They can become very polite and diplomatic during courtship. They are charmers! This also means that achieving their individuality can be done by learning to get along with people and being more diplomatic.

The 6th house is ruled by Scorpio, this means that stress can show up as health issues. Stress around sexuality or secrets that they can’t talk about especially. Daily routines can be where they feel they need to have more control. They can also be secretive about their job or what they actually do day to do. They like to have a private bubble to escape into. In that place, they are kings and queens.

The 8th house is ruled by Capricorn, they will work very hard to achieve their ambitions and secure money. Thye can inherit money from other men or through management. They may be good at dealing with money because they show responsibility around that area. They are somewhat conservative about spending cash. They won’t but low-quality things or things they don’t need. They have a secret instinct about money and other people.

The 9th house is ruled by Aquarius, this means they will meet many friends through higher education or travel. They will not follow the rules about how to do either of these things. They may have a hard time staying in one school or institution if it means following the rules. They may have a very sharp brilliant mind that grasps philosophy or science with ease.

The 10th house is ruled by Pisces, they may have unrealistic ideas about who they want to be in society. They may have big dreams about success and social standing. They are elusive to the public and can be a chameleon depending on the job. They have an acting ability. They need who they become to be of service to society.

Hope you enjoyed! 🙂

Uranus conjunct Venus in Synastry

A conjunction is a very powerful aspect between two charts- it is a real meeting of two forces between people that blend into something new. It is not an easy aspect but one that is very strong and can paint a relationship more vividly than any easy aspect.

Uranus is foremost a collective planet of ideas for a better future and when meeting another person’s Venus it creates a ripple effect of opening up new possibilities. The person who feels it first is the Venus person, they feel like they stepped into a new reality where former rules don’t apply. It makes them step away from old notions about love, dating and sexuality. What they value becomes insignificant against the force of attraction they feel towards the Uranus person. It is not a heavy feeling but one of excitement and renewal. They become charged with new dreams for the feature and start seeing love as something much more pure and simple. This feeling can be frightening because it is sudden and electric but it can also be very uplifting and inspiring. The Uranus person makes the Venus person reconsider their choices and what they value in relationships because now they see those old standards are not needed for love to happen.

The Uranus person in turn, feels that their own unique perspective and higher mind is being appreciated by the Venus person. They feel that they have something good to offer and that in turn, inspired them to open up and develop their own Uranian side- making hopes for a better feature, puzzling out problems and finding generosity beyond ego. This is not an emotional aspects but one that can create a lot of energy that makes a new relationship worth the effort and time. Both people feel like they were baptized in a fresh lake of water and came out with new strength to face the world.

It is a great aspect if one of both people want to channel this energy into their creative work. Artists, musicians and even scientists can benefit from this new perspective that is achieved. Even if both people are otherwise incompatible, they can gain a lot from a short interaction as they cross each others path. This is a great aspect to have if you want the person you date to help you do what you once feared. It is very easygoing but also high minded because both people don’t demand anything from the other. Instead, they bask in the light this energy omits and can appreciate what each has to offer. The Venus person offers something warm and concrete to the Uranus person who starts feeling they have a container of safety in this connection in which to grow and develop their own individuality, creativity and idealism. The Venus person feels that their tastes become more flexible, they start trying new things, new styles, new foods, new art- all as a result of having a more vivid perception of reality. They start wanting to touch, steel and see something that before seemed gray. The world is painted in colors that are enchanting and new- when they meet the Uranus person.

I think the Venus person has a healing effect on the Uranus person. They make them feel that they are being understood and appreciated for who they are in a very open way. The Venus person simply feels that they are getting to know a new side to how they love and what they want from other people.

The natal aspects matter a great deal to how this conjunction manifests. If for example, the Uranus person has  very challenging aspects nataly to their Uranus then the Venus person will be the one making them change. The Uranus person will feel all those challenges are being basked in warmth, love and acceptance. It might be a slower process of change and attraction that develops after some discomfort. It will not be the swift attraction the is usually associated with this aspect.

It is also possible that the Venus person will feel they are being pushed beyond their limits  and comfort zone. They may not be ready or want to experience life form a fresh set of values. They may feel threatened by the Uranus person and will fight for what thiner consider beautiful and valuable. Even in such a case, a strong feeling of no judgment and openness will prevail. They may fight against the effect of the Uranus person but without long lasting hard feelings. They will become more logical and less emotional in how they react to this situation. They will feel they can express what they value and love and the Uranus person will still accept it. Therefore, the instinct to fight and hate the Uranus person will simply die down into a slow simmer of good will and friendship. This aspect can be great between co-workers on some project or people doing humanitarian work together. Between romantic partners this aspect may allow them to never become bored with each other. They will bring something exciting into a life of routine of rising kids and paying bills. They manage together to make the most boring activity seem more fun and light. In this way it makes relationships last a long time. Yet the union  or marriage will have to be flexible to the various inner and outer changes. The Uranus person will hold the key and the Venus person will need to react. As various transits hit Uranus, the need to be flexible and to change up routines will manifest. Every time there will be a hard transit to Uranus the relationship will be shared up into a mess. Meanwhile, the Venus person will continue on a journey of developing their love nature as the only way to make this love survive.

This is ultimately an aspect that works for people that expect that a relationship is about growing together as individuals. Hopefully, if you have this aspect you are searching for this kind of connection. If the need for flexibility becomes too difficult is a good idea to be honest and open about it. Both the Uranus and Venus person will have a positive reaction towards openness in a relationship. They key is not to speak or react from a a place of emotional turmoil. Speak calmly and remember you are not being judged. This is a haven of acceptance and growth for both of you that is very special.

Mercury in the 8th house: Cutting Edge

If you have Mercury located in your 8th house you know words and ideas hold great power.

You are highly sensitive and aware of the importance of thoughts in shaping our world. Most probably, you are hyper-aware of what other people are thinking around you. Depending on the sign, this awareness can be focused on people close to you (water), society at large (air) or those in close proximity physically (Earth).

The 8th house is an intuitive house (ruled by Scorpio) therefore, although you may become fascinated with theories that explain why and how people think: Psychology, religion, criminology, science, spirituality and even Astrology- this is all a tool for you to try and understand what you simply already know. Your thinking is not rational and almost supernatural. Whatever rational tool you use to explain and create order- don’t forget that. After all, real healing can’t take place when not facing what is really there.

Growing up, you just knew more than was said or explained to you. You knew what members of the family were concerned about, their worries and fears. Being young, you didn’t have the words or full understanding necessary to express what you found out. This may have created patterns of repressing your thoughts as they caused anxiety. You were also exposed to secrets and topics that you couldn’t fully digest and had to repress. It is possible adults could sense your mature grasp of their situation. Some adults use children with this Mercury as their therapists: telling them all their problems. While others, fear and punish these children for knowing their secrets.

Which one was it? For whatever pattern played out, you still learned that your thoughts are…Dangerous. You didn’t know why, but you knew you had to start hiding them from others or someone will get hurt. You may have experienced, that your words can deeply hurt others and have shied away from expressing your ideas.

As you grew older, you started to learn how to put your intuitive knowing into words, images or some other form that others could grasp. That is why fields that study human behavior are very appealing to you personally, they help you make sense and order inside the turmoil and chaos in your mind. Remember, this is an emotional space for Mercury to be, therefore a search for order and healing is such a large part of your journey.

It is important for you to not get too tied to old ways of thinking. Just because in the past, something you said or though created a painful situation doesn’t mean it will always be so. Try new ways of thinking and learn to detach from thoughts that create fear.

On some deep level, you believe there is something flawed or even crazy about your mind. Again, this is simply a misunderstanding from the past.

I believe, the problem is not only those past situations where you hurt others or they hurt you. Rather, the problem is that you know within that you hold great power. This power scares you as they are afraid unleashing it will create destruction.  This is the typical Plutonian problem. In the case of mercury, it can be dealt with through expression. Look at the sign and aspects of your Mercury to find where you can let out steam in a positive way.

Because you repress thoughts that bother you, eventually they must come out. In that, your Mercury is highly creative. It has a lot of energy to unleash into this world. This energy can be used to create something new. Usually, I find Mercury in the 8th house people, do best when they express what they need to in order to feel good and cleanse the toxic waste of years of painful words and ideas. So once you work in a selfish manner, you become a canvas for new creations that others can appreciate.

Your mind tends to work in cycles and patterns. Once you have an idea of experience you never forget it and simply keep adding more to it during life. This goes for both positive happy memories and some difficult ones. You are good at analyzing almost anything and can make a great researcher. The key is…What you research must have “meat” to it. The Virgo can analyze dry number sand figures, but you?

You need to be fascinated and engaged. Naturally, human emotions are attractive. But what you might find it, you can be just as engaged with anything else if you find how. I mention this because it might prove helpful for you to find a positive focus- instead of the unsteady ocean of humanity.

If you find yourself overwhelmed, just engage with something harmless. Your mind is like an engine in need of fuel and you can’t go for long periods of time without intense probing.

The other extreme is also likely; you might find that after periods of “detoxing” your ways of thinking you need something new to be interested in. You might jump into whatever presents itself…You are always on the hunt.

Again, if you forget you are driven by intuition (it is very easy to do so), you might end up drowning in your new subject of obsession.

Many 8th house Mercury people, end up making themselves their prime subject of research…working on healing their mind and transforming their way of expression. In part, because of bad experiences in childhood and in part, because they are motivated to seek the root of everything. Subjects that are endless are the most attractive: the occult, spirituality, god, science and anything that can’t be fully understood.

You enjoy the process of understanding and searching for answers more than the answers. It a real thrill for you! And so careers that allow you to exercise your detective mind are a possibility. You probably dislike small talk and concert answers…You know things are always more complicated then they seem.  That attitude combined with your great listening skills can make you a valued friend and lover. You take your own promises seriously and treat others with a level of non-judgment. Perhaps, because you know where they are coming from and not because you think they are good.

Your way of communicating can be interesting and elusive. You probably heard the phrase: “what do you mean?” many time. You can learn to deliver your voice and create a mysterious atmosphere.

Some current examples of this Mercury are Mark Zuckerberg who influences the world through communication with Facebook and Eddie Murphy: who is unafraid to bring the taboo subject to light using comedy. In general, once the power of communication is unleashed you can become well known for your brand of communicating and have other people really drawn to you.

You can be ruthless with your words when deeply hurt. Although the knowledge of the effect words have, will over time help you avoid this. Still, it is a good idea to have relationships based on real trust, intimacy and shared interests. Relationships based just on social roles and mutual pleasures can’t hold your interest for very long.

Ultimately, your journey is all about learning how to act on the power you have and not fearing it. Balancing the need for dramatic intensity with the need for spiritual clarity and finding meaningful ways of self-expression. You will keep transforming all your life until you reach a point that feels true for you. Meanwhile, you are highly flexible and curious about all the possibilities. You are fearless about getting dirty in the process of your search. That is where the famous connection to the taboo comes from regarding this placement.

You will seek anywhere and find beauty in dark places. One day, shaping the world when you communicate what you find…Something others are too afraid to look into but can be valuable for healing us all.

Keys:

Knowing your own darkness, accepting the darkness of others.

Embracing your power to influence other people.

Looking your own fears in the eye.

Finding a subject of interest that can have a positive impact.

Letting go of old patterns of thinking.

#1 AstroPop Profile: Saggittarius Queens

In the following series, we explore how popular musicians reflect their Astrological roots. We break down lyrics, videos and style to show the signs working on the collective front of pop culture. Warning: Stereotypes allowed.

The Sagittarius girl is born to dominate and succeed in the music business. Her main virtue is her dramatic flair and storytelling. Her creative heart fuels a dramatic image reflected in her bold style choices.  She seems to be working from an emotional core: Stories of love, revenge, and victory. Yet Sagittarius is not emotional by nature, he is simply a good storyteller, a dramatic teacher who wishes to speak to the mob. The Sagittarius girl is an actress who enjoys weaving popular mentality at her commend. She is naturally gifted at breaking up complicated into simple and warping it in an attractive cover. Sagittarius rules traditional Jupiter and as such the girls like to ring out something from the past in their creations and style. No matter how sad the song, there is something powerful about the Sagittarius girl’s strength to always bounce back. It is not luck but optimism and a strong value system that allows the queen to always be victorious. The self-esteem is usually strong, they are confident and will stand their ground.

The Sagittarius queen is loved by the masses for how accessible she is. Her lyrics are rarely complicated but always delivered with such a dramatic flair – you believe her. Sagittarius rules publishing and this gives the Sagittarius girl a secret business talent. She knows what the people love and hate and she is willing to play. Jupiter rules expansion and these artists all show how harmless drama can get out of hand. The willingness to expand allows the singers to change their images. Usually in bold ways, from pure to dirty, sweet to angry, virgin and whore. Jupiter likes things to be big, bold and loud. Co-Ruled by Pisces there is an element of fantasy and mystery to all Jupiter creations, combined with the ability to take what the public believes in and throw in their face.

In pop culture, the Sagittarius may take the seediest hedonistic elements of the collective such as extreme sexuality and greed. Sagittarius likes to sing about money and possessions. It equally likes to sing about love, and it will shout about it from the rooftops. It is not a subtle kind of song. Sagittarius usually thinks they are right but are redeemed by their generosity towards others. “High” Sagittarius songs deal with ideas about a better society, a better relationship and a better love. “Low” Sagittarius songs deal with hedonism, money, and sex. Many artists move between the two and play around with various ideas and images. Remember when Christian Aguilera came out with “Dirty”? They enjoy shocking people on moral grounds.

I hope next time you hear a song by a Sagittarius you will notice this come through.

Strength: Songwriting and storytelling with voice and acting, bold and brave

Weakness: Can exaggerate and become caricatures of themselves (cringe)

The sexy:  Playing a character, at heart wild and sporty

Style: Vintage fairy tales, Baroque

Examples: Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus, Billie Eilish, Nicki Minaj, Britney Spears, Amy Lee, Christina Aguilera

Queen Earth: Taylor Swift

Blank-Space-main-467

Taylor Swift is known for her simple catchy beats and lyrics. She cultivates a style that leans heavily on American culture. Her bold red lips speak of pin girls and yet she is the girl next door. She is retro yet she is fresh. She has been accused of using her personal romances as fuel for her popular songs. She is a songwriter that writes about heartbreak and revenge. She is very much dramatic in every sense from her movement on stage to her facial expressions. Her music videos showcase over the top stories of collective fairy tales.

I give her the Earth Element because of the strong presence of Saturn and Capricorn in her Natal Chart. Earth would give the type of S stories and the style she tells them in a more vintage and traditional feel. Think Romeo and Juliette. Appropriately her popular album was titled  Fearless and don’t forget the characters she likes to play in her videos. Sagittarius can always use some Saturn to give him the ability to hold its horses and not over gamble in life. Swift is a good example of business sense that feels the tides of trends as they come and go. Her Cancer Moon helps her connect to the primitive emotional strings of her audience. Cancer is the baby, the childhood dream but it can bite when hurt.

Lyrics: Now I’m standing alone in a crowded room and we’re not speaking,
And I’m dying to know is it killing you like it’s killing me, yeah?
I don’t know what to say, since the twist of fate when it all broke down,
And the story of us looks a lot like a tragedy now. – The Story of Us

Queen Air: Billie Elish BillieBellyache2.1web.jpg

This artist is new but is a great example of Sagittarius at its finest.  A very young 18-year-old but there is a lot of wisdom in her delivery. Her strength again appears in her storytelling and the way her voice shifts to accommodate every word with meaning. She is a pure actress; rebellious teen is her Sagittarius role.  Notice how she tells the story of murdering her cheating boyfriend in the song Bellyache, it is all about her delivery. The lyrics themselves are very simple.

Like Swift, she is a triumphant victim in a different style. Speaking of different, Eillish has Uranus, the planet for all that is alternative, innovative and rebellious on her side. Therefore, I think Air is her element. Sagittarius with a strong Aquarius emphasis is generally great at developing a unique style and voice.  In female charts especially, a rejection of gender roles is common. The Sagittarius girl is by nature a tomboy. The art such a mix produces tends to concern itself with what is right and wrong in relationships between humans. Uranus and Jupiter both care a great deal about finding the right dogma to fit their worldview. Using some shock value is a common way for them to make other people think and find the freedom to express their creativity. With Uranus in the mix, Eilish can make anything look attractive and sexy, even if it doesn’t fit into the traditional popular view.

lyrics: Sitting all alone
Mouth full of gum
In the driveway
My friends aren’t far
In the back of my car
Lay their bodies – Bellyache

Queen Fire: Nicki Minaj

nicki

This artist has enough fire in her chart to burn a room but with some earth to ground her. Jupiter is never tired, the energy is always going and going like…Her words. With Virgo moon her flair for words, fast and witty is evident. Her style is very much made from bold shapes and colors taken over the top. Remember, she is playing a role and behind it is probably someone shrewder than you think. Some consider the Sagittarius style to be too much and too sexy. Jupiter likes it that way. Oh and Jupiter roles curves.  Lyrics: All of these bitches in pocket, I’m ’bout to make a deposit. Tell ’em to go ‘head and gossip
As long as your house is the size of my closet-
Shanghai

Queen Water: Amy Lee

amy lee

Amy Lee is enchanting with her beautiful voice that seems too big and deep for one person. Her style leans on the gothic warped in fairy tales with a dark atmosphere and stories of emotional depth is her art. Like Swift, she has a Cancer Moon, which allows her to go into the instinctive real of the heart. While Swift goes into subjects of Cancer the baby- teenage years, the fears and needs of the young Cancer. Amy Lee goes into the deep waters of the collective soul. She too has a taste for the dramatic with her gothic style and of course the music of Evanescence which hits your heart with no apologies.

Lyrics: When you cried I’d wipe away all of your tears
When you’d scream I’d fight away all of your fears
And I held your hand through all of these years
But you still have all of me – My Immortal

The 12th house: What is Wrong with the World

When a planet sits in the 12th house of a natal chart it can be both a beautiful and difficult experience, often at the same time. If you have a planet of even several planets in the 12th house learning as much as you can about it is crucial. This is because 12th house planets can be hard to ever fully know and own. Especially if the rest of your chart is much more accessible overall. for example, you have a lot of fire signs or planets in houses 1 to 7.

The way I see it, one issue is that any planet in the 12th house is already passed on from this world. It is that part of you that is old, wise, evolved more than any other. It doesn’t mean it has not lessons to learn, but it may feel it does not want to fully be present in the here and now- it wants to escape into other realms of being beyond physical existence. It wants to go back to the other world, the womb and the infinite world of the divine.

Do you see the problem? Many parts of life do offer us illusory escape: We dream in our sleep, we watch movies and read books, listen to music and daydream. So whatever planet is in your 12th house is going to be somewhat prone to not wanting to deal with its mission in the classic sense.  For example, Mercury would not want to use rational thinking and prefer mystical thinking, Venus may not consider physical beauty and form, Saturn will feel like the ultimate victim of circumstance.

I’m painting what seems like a negative picture but really it is only one aspect of this. After all, I did say this planet is already living in the spirit world- it is your highest self. But can that part of you meet reality? Can it live in our current world?

The real issue is that we are living in a world that is not perfect. We see and feel a great deal of suffering. Today more than ever we are exposed to what is going on in the world through the news and online. It cannot be ignored. As a 12th house person you will not be able to shut off all that feels so very wrong to you. Growing up you probably were told to shut off your empathy because it didn’t fit in so well with daily life and tasks. You may have been made to feel you need to reject that part of yourself that felt something was not right. You see this with children who ask questions, who wonder why things are the way they are. Teachers and grown-ups tell them not to ask those questions, not to cry over the puppy or homeless man in the street. Instead you were told you need to be strong, too survive, to fight and do your homework. To do all these Virgo things of daily routine and living. On the one hand, it is very true that the 12ht house person needs to learn to go through life all the mundane tasks of work and routine. To learn to take hold of every day and not run away. The problem is that our current world is not yet built for true compassion- people ate focused on surviving and on being “strong”. You probably rejected those aspects of yourself. Try and think back on when and how it was happening. Try and remember who you used to be before you had to develop thicker skin. You might even discover some problems started taking up root in your mind and body when it happened. Just because you disowned those parts of yourself that could not handle the pain and emotional stimulation- those parts are still a part of you. A disowned 12ht house is like a palace full of treasures with a wide open door: anyone can come and steal its treasures and burn it down to the ground. An owned 12th house shines bright light for miles, it opens its door to those in need and closes it in front of those who wish to do evil.

The people who tell the 12ht house person to develop thicker skin and be strong are missing the point. Sure, you could use some tools to deal better with organizing your life and achieving some goals. But your strength is simply different. It is not the fighting kind that goes to war like Mars. Or the kind the develops ideas like Mercury. It is the elusive strength of Neptune: that only seems weak on the surface but in fact is more long standing then them all. You have behind you the power of spirit, and the entire light of creation. Can anything triumph that? You tell me.

You need to let the planet in the 12th house be who it is, stop wearing masks and acting. Playing a role is so common for you may have forgotten you are going through the motions of a written script.  There is always a powerful creative force behind the 12th house planets, they can unleash creations that do seem to come from out of this world. They can excess experiences that people only dream of and bring them into our reality. Transforming what is wrong by showing the gap between the way things are and the way things should be. The 8th house does this too but through death and transformation, the 12h house is already…Dead. It knows what stays infinite despite death:  What is true and good, that is love and actions that impact people. These stays and never die and form them it will fight.

What is your 12th house experience?

I hope to explore the 12th house in my next posts. Starting with planets and moving on to aspects and celebrity charts.

Taking Care of your Mercury

In your natal chart, the planet Mercury might be overlooked in relation to your emotional well-being, but what can be more important than being able to connect with the world? To communicate with friends, lovers and family and to express your points of view to others? We as human beings need to feel heard and understood. We need it like air. Sometimes we talk because we want to feel we matter in the eyes of people. Sometimes we listen and offer our help and advice to loved ones. When we feel no one is listening or what we are saying is ignored we start to feel like we don’t matter. We ask: “What is wrong with me? Am I invisible?” This is Mercury territory. Sometimes, we change our communication just to fit in, and slowly we start to feel like we are lying to ourselves. This is normal and there is no avoiding compromising ourselves in society on some level. The problem starts, when this effects our self-esteem and ability to respect our boundaries. When a buildup of our unexpressed thoughts starts collecting like dirty laundry in our minds we become weaker. Knowing what your true Mercury needs are, can help you not overstep your own boundaries. Here is a general frame work for Mercury in your chart. Remember, aspects to other planets modify your Mercury and can serve as guide lines for dealing with any issue. The house would show you what area in your life this drama takes place.

Mercury in Fire signs:

You need to say whatever comes into your head. You are an immediate communicator. Holding your tongue feels like torture. You are honest in what you say and don’t see the point of diplomacy. You are very expressive, and people know that you will let them know if you love or hate something. You might feel as if people don’t realize there is more to your thoughts than you show. Your lesson is to learn that if you want to be honest in your opinion, you can give yourself time to take a step back and reflect. You might feel deeper aspects of your mind don’t get to be expressed and others don’t take you seriously. You can teach others to be fearless and less self-conscious. You will learn that not everyone is as fearless and sometimes not hurting feelings is just as important as any truth. Instead, express your clear and bright point of view through other means. You can encourage, lead and shine through your communication.

Mercury in Air signs:

You have many thoughts and ideas happening your mind, focusing on just one seems boring. You need to be stimulated by others. You need your thoughts to meet a point of focus in order to express. Silence is crippling for you and not connecting with others makes you sick. It doesn’t matter if you are understood as long as you are heard. You don’t mind playing devil’s advocate and can say things you don’t really mean. You enjoy small talk, banter and a good argument. You are a quick thinker and can be very objective about your opinions. You see forms of communication as art and in that sense truth is flexible and changing. You need to be around people who don’t try and put boundaries to your communication. It is important others know what you truly believe in and what is simply an exercise for you. Don’t be offended if people take what you say too seriously, just use humor to show them it’s not a big deal.

Mercury in Earth signs:

You like to have a strong foundation to any opinion. You don’t make up your mind without considering all options. You tend to communicate in ways that relate to the immediate world and its concerns. Whatever is happening around you is going to be on your mind. You have the ability to apply anything you study to your communication. Because you you’re your time to reflect before you speak, changing your mind can be a big effort of reconsidering an entire foundation. You think words matter and don’t take it lightly if someone offends you. You can communicate complicate things in a simple manner that anyone can understand. You prefer to listen and only say something if you are sure about the impact it will have. You are good at offering advice to people and they respect your opinion as it looks you worked hard for it. You hate being cornered or rushed by people and feel ignored and disrespected if that happens. You need people who would listen to you.

Mercury in Water signs:

You communicate only a small portion of what is on your mind. You feel thoughts are an endless process that you have no control over. You are strongly effected by opinions around you. You can be flexible in your communication and use non-verbal means. Using movement, dance or body language feels more honest. You adapt your communication to the circumstance at hand. You connect to the world and others through symbols and larger ideas. You sometimes erupt in very expressive outbursts and speeches about things you care about- that surprise people. You would rather stay silent than have a conflict. Words can wound you deeply. You can communicate what others are thinking better than they can. You are not so good at communicating what you are thinking. It changes anyway.
