Edward Snowden: The justice of coherence

“Study after study has show that human behavior changes when we know we’re being watched. Under observation, we act less free, which means we effectively *are* less free.”

What is Snowden doing on this Blog? For one his chart is very much Pluto heavy and the above quote was spoken like a true Scorpio Moon. Human behavior is interesting but what makes someone well known for what they have to say?

Edward Snowden is first and foremost FAMOUS. He may not like that one bit, but that is a fact. Famous for what? For uncovering and sharing information. This fits with his chart in which a Gemini Mercury (the message bearer and the Fool) is conjunct the ascendant. On the surface, it is clear from the natal chart. This person will be known due to what they will communicate to the world. A rising planet is our face to the world and if supported by outer planets, it brings some level of fame. A rising Mercury gives a person a youthful persona and appearance. A person who reads, travels and is always searching for new information. He likes the information to be fast and easy to digest. A rising Mercury would also give a remarkable ability to talk and communicate in a flexible manner. However, this is no regular Mercury rising person because his communication is expressed as a reaction to his heavy seventh house placements. Snowden’s Gemini Mercury is in opposition to Jupiter-Uranus in Sagittarius. What he says is all about what he sees outside of his perception. This is a very fascinating position because of how impersonal it may seem. The message of Mercury becomes motivated by the culture and society. Jupiter-Uranus is all about the collective ideals and the big ideas shaping our social institutions, political ideals and pop culture. In itself, Jupiter-Uranus would suggest a person with very innovative or progressive ideas that can be somewhat “over the top” in terms of shaking the status quo. Jupiter makes things big and is often found taking ideas to extreme conclusions that apply to EVERYONE. Jupiter in Sagittarius is society and the tribe. It is not the individual or the family. The mind is therefore geared towards applying concepts to the bigger picture. A very INTJ type of chart if you are into MBTI. Snowden may be aware that his discoveries and explorations can hold a very different meaning on a personal level. He would not be telling us what that meaning is. This position also suggests someone who is very future-oriented and cares more about tomorrow than today. In addition, the position of Jupiter in such close conjunction to Uranus suggests someone who wants to break down the accepted norms and regulations in order to get people to think for themselves. If Jupiter relates to politics and government law, then Uranus relates to technology and innovation. So politics and technology is the theme of his Gemini message. He could have been a good teacher in another life. In all lives, this is a chart of a philosopher. He is a person more concerned with the mind and ideas than anything else. It is a misunderstood place to be because, for others, his ideas hold practical applications that can be hard to deal with. For Snowden, the revealing of structures and ideas is an end in itself. The practical application of the secrets revealed is not something he is likely to be too concerned with…He is always on to the next ideas and the next puzzle piece that needs to be studied. A very restless personality indeed. Funnily enough, Sagittarius is a traditionalist at heart but with Uranus in the mix Snowden is likely to form a personal philosophy in reaction to the accepted norms. I use the word “reaction” because that is how the 7th house works on the psychological level. Whatever Snowden is thinking or telling us is not personal to him. It is not about him at all or his feelings. It is about his Jupiter-Uranus position, which he projects and finds outside of himself. He reacts to this perception of the world and whatever comes out is for everyone to hear. It some ways it is not rational at all because Uranus works in sudden bursts of inspiration. Snowden gets moments of amazing insight and genius that are fleeting. Those moments come and go and sometimes Snowden is awfully bored by how things are. He needs constant stimulation, communication and information. He is easily frustrated if his life is not full of movement and excitement of the intellectual kind. He needs to at least travel inside his mind to keep himself sane. His body and mind are very nervous and electric and can cause high levels of anxiety.

Mercury in Gemini in opposition to Jupiter-Uranus

The 7th house is how we see the world outside of us. So if the “I” is Snowden’s Mercury, “the world” is the dangerously unstable Jupiter-Uranus. Snowden seeks security and stability above all else, which is elsewhere indicated as an impulse in his chart. His own motivations are universal enough to become a personal cause. The world is symbolized by the Jupiter-Uranus conjunction for a whole generation of people. Therefore, whatever Snowden communicates or becomes known for is about people’s collective fears and desires to change the social order. The interesting thing here is that although this is not personal, it can become a coping mechanism for psychological struggles and inner fears around a lack of stability. Snowden never stood a chance but to fulfill his role one way or another. But he had a choice about how to let it manifest. Aspects always manifest one way or another but the choices are ours. He could have easily stayed in the shadows forever and done well for himself financially. Mercury is not the boss- he is the employee. However, Mercury is also a trickster and The Fool is meant to educate us all in our own foolishness. In addition, with Jupiter-Uranus so close to the descendant, there could have been issues with his teammates at work. He needed to break free before they swallowed him up with their ideas and way of life. The 7th house is that very part of us that can become too passive and immersed up in the social norms and expectations in others. It is easy to reject our 7th house calling and become silent and accommodating. I suspect Snowden used to be funny and harmless. Probably he is now funnier than ever. His humor is likely to be sharp and surprising to people. No one is funnier than a Gemini-Sagittarius and no one is more harmless appearing. He could have said or done outrageous things countless times, but I doubt anyone would take him seriously. Jupiter tends to make things seem humorous and unthreatening. Oh, but Snowden is a gray cardinal at heart.

“You should always let people underestimate you. Because when people misappraise your intelligence and abilities, they’re merely pointing out their own vulnerabilities—the gaping holes in their judgment that need to stay open if you want to cartwheel through later on a flaming horse, correcting the record with your sword of justice.”

Why? Looking beyond the obvious, Snowden’s natal chart is powerfully Plutonic. He knows power and he knows how power works. He knows because it is in his psyche to understand it. Snowden is a Scorpio Moon and the rulers of his Moon are a very powerfully positioned. As flexible and easy-going as Snowden may appear on the surface, a deep intensity motivates his actions. For one, Snowden’sSnowden’s core ego is ruled by Mars and Pluto. This is someone with a lot of ambition, tenacity and a certain edge. His Sun conjunct Mars is also in Gemini but the energy works towards his 2nd house. He is someone who can work hard if he is motivated by his values. The 2nd house also relates to our confidence and self-esteem and he is very confident about his intellect (Gemini). In turn, he can make a good income with his abilities around tech and if he puts effort into communicating his values. Sun-Mars is also someone who is a fighter at heart. That said, Snowden’s Sun opposes Neptune, which makes him more of an idealist than a physical fighter. Idealism is a tricky thing but not something to be underestimated. People have done crazy things in the name of idealism. But Neptune doesn’t believe in crazy it only believes in the truth behind the veil. It also believes in isolation and loneliness. It goes without saying that his self-perception is guided by sudden insights (Uranus) and the collective unconscious (Neptune) and is not always realistic in the usual sense of the world real. He could have a hard time grasping his own identity and role in the world. He is a chameleon and his flexibility and curiosity would make him less likely to have a solid sense of Self. The self can be easily discarded for the sake of knowledge. He should avoid lies and deception by people by keeping his suspicions awake, which leads me to suggest that Snowden’s life work is motivated by his own unpleasant experiences around deception. His own lack of clarity about the truth and what is real motivates him to fight for coherence as a form of justice. I usually tell people that the universe would support them if they can channel personal struggles towards actions for the greater good. It is not so much a question of truth but of a higher purpose.

The clearest and interesting voice in the chart is Snowden’s Scorpio Moon. This Moon is a detective that hears the whispers about the figures who really hold the strings behind the curtain. This Moon understands the hidden aspects of power in an almost visceral manner. It is a great position for detailed hard work and deep research and it would keep the lies of Neptune at bay. Snowden’sSnowden’s Scorpio Moon is a very clear voice in the chart because it is the most challenged planet. Scorpio Moon is all about survival and security. It has the instinct fo a person trapped in a city during an apolocylptic event. It feels this way all the time. It can detect danger miles way and it is a classic position for a spy. It is also all about quiet power rather than laud displays. The Scorpio Moon is best in a crisis and it is nurtured by pressure. This Moon may not like it, but she shines the brightest light when some dirt is uncovered. I should mention that Mark Zuckerberg is a fellow Scorpio Mooner and it is not a coincidence. The previous generation of the computer revolution has all fit with the Pluto in Scorpio generation that brought us the internet. Snowden fits in with the Scorpio theme of the techies but he is younger and his actions are all about moving towards a new way of sharing information that fits in with the new Pluto in the Sagittarius generation. I could write a book about that topic and the figures at play at not today. What about cybersecurity? And what about power in the shadows? This is indicated in Snowdens very strong Saturn conjunct Pluto which supports his Sun-Mars. The rulers of Snowden’s Moon are Saturn-Pluto on his 6th house cusp. This is kind of interesting because this is again someone who is born to work very hard for somebody else who is the boss or handler. However, it is also a position of someone who is very powerful in their own right and with time, will gain authority. Saturn-Pluto people are the ultimate survivors but they also tend to deal with a. Lot of repression from powerful figures who sense their potential and try to nip it in the bud. Authority figures and employers can be a pain. The Libra Saturn-Pluto conjunction is very well aspected so it shows that through his work, Snowden can overcome the struggles of his Moon. I like this position fro him because otherwise, he would be flying off into revolution land. The Saturn-Pluto aspect is grounding and very capable of holding stamina over time. Libra would add some tact and ability to work behind the scenes to reach his goals without always disrupting people and situations apart. The ruler of this conjunction is Venus in Leo, which would add an element of hedonism and fun to otherswise very intellectually driven person. Venus would suggest that Snowden could also learn to live in the moment and enjoy life as he gets older. Leo would also help him take the stage as an authority in his own right and would add a flare of style that otherwise would be misplaced. However, it is naive of us not to consider that Snowden is in danger and he is facing a lot of peers working around him. His superb survival instincts and ability to strategize have always helped him but different transits and times can bring some storms. Venus also rules his 12th house which is most important when it comes to forces isolation, hidden things, hidden enemies and secrets. Snowden would have to think hard about when not to appear visible to others and on “the stage” of public life. He can be faced with some issues around choosing to step out when he should hide. Leo would compel his Venus to go out and communicate (Venus is in the 3rd house) but it is square his Moon and can disrupt his security or health. He would have to pick and choose these battles carefully in the near future.

Gemini Ascendant: the old child

Gemini Ascendant people tend to hide a high level of intelligence under a mask of playful cleverness. They often don’t like to sound or appear too serious in public and prefer to communicate their ideas in a more accessible manner. Often, they have a very vivid ability to convey a lot through body language! They make great impressions of accents and characters. They are quick thinkers and avid book readers and possible musicians and writers. They collect information and knowledge about their environment at lightning speed. They need someone to bounce ideas off of and enjoy playing devil’s advocate.

People matter a lot to them and their friends may take a central role in how they feel. This is because they can easily feel blocked if they have no one to share and “play” with them.  If they can’t express or speak up about what is on their mind they tend to become depressed.  Some Gemini’s rising people are less verbal and more visual but even in that case, they might express well through poetry. They go through phases of being very chatty and silent as a stone. They are generally not too emotional and don’t care to protect their heart. In fact, they care if something is “interesting” not if something is morally right or if it feels good.

In the sense, they are not selfish people because they are less focused on indulging their feelings. Yet, their morals are easily clouded by that same search for meaning. The journey can take a central stage not the destination. This makes them very open-minded but not always consistent. Even the most dogmatic and idealistic types tend to become disillusioned with their beliefs at some point along the years. They tend to be social chameleon’s that are hard to truly get to know. They will not show the same face to two different people. That makes them usually highly popular and well-liked because they are fun to be around.  At the same time, people might feel confused and unsure where they stand with the Gemini rising.  They may never know if they are truly liked or just tolerated for the sake of “interest”.

Over time, a Gemini rising will develop a more solid conviction about the world and their place in it. They tend to stick to the big important ideas and are very loyal to making an impact by communicating those convictions. As you can guess, Gemini rising people have a natural talent in politics and can use that to their advantage. They are brilliant at juggling people and can be very appealing. Like a child caught stealing cookies, they have a natural appearance of innocence that gets them out of trouble. They tend to have something pure and youthful about them, they’re eyes are often clear and sparkling with mirth. Their body language expressive and lively and their energy infectious. The men are usually tall, with lean long limbs and a high forehead. The women have a doll-like sweet appearance and a delicate body. Many enjoy dressing up in costumes or changing their appearance into something more exciting and colorful.

Sagittarius rules their 7th house, therefore they need to balance they need to information with bigger (Jupiter) convictions and beliefs. They must have a larger vision that directs them in life…Some bigger goal. They may seek this direction in a foreign culture or by going on a journey. Doing this will be highly beneficial to them and help them understand what they are really looking for. Dating a partner that makes them have a new larger view of life is very attractive to them.

If we continue and look at the signs that rule the houses we can see other patterns emerge. The 2nd house is ruled by Cancer, this means that Gemini rising people have a sentimental spot for their family. They may show a side that is more feeling only towards those closest to them. They have a lot of memories from childhood that makes up their sense of inner security.

They can become nostalgic for their childhood and all the games they played. It also means that they have a good instinct for money and making it come to them. They may dream of a big warm happy home for themselves.

The 3rd house is ruled by Leo, this means they need to shine and be heard. They need a public to hear them out and listen to their ideas. They could have some ego battles with their brothers and sisters. Yet, they are also somewhat proud and protective of their extended family. They may have had crazy adventures during school years…And played some pranks or got into battles with bullies.

The 4th house is ruled by Virgo, probably they learned a lot of their communicative ability at home. One of both of the parents was very well learned and passed that on. As adults, they expressed this wisdom and knowledge in a different way. Maybe they rebelled against the more heavy and structured way information was passed on by the family. They may have disliked the rules and details that were forced on their mind. The home was probably nurturing to them on a low level. Thye may have got what they needed but at some point felt they needed to leave and achieve their dreams.

The 5th house is ruled by Libra, this means they are very adept at social gatherings and have a beautiful way of expressing themselves. They are also romantics and enjoy the “game” of love. They can become very polite and diplomatic during courtship. They are charmers! This also means that achieving their individuality can be done by learning to get along with people and being more diplomatic.

The 6th house is ruled by Scorpio, this means that stress can show up as health issues. Stress around sexuality or secrets that they can’t talk about especially. Daily routines can be where they feel they need to have more control. They can also be secretive about their job or what they actually do day to do. They like to have a private bubble to escape into. In that place, they are kings and queens.

The 8th house is ruled by Capricorn, they will work very hard to achieve their ambitions and secure money. Thye can inherit money from other men or through management. They may be good at dealing with money because they show responsibility around that area. They are somewhat conservative about spending cash. They won’t but low-quality things or things they don’t need. They have a secret instinct about money and other people.

The 9th house is ruled by Aquarius, this means they will meet many friends through higher education or travel. They will not follow the rules about how to do either of these things. They may have a hard time staying in one school or institution if it means following the rules. They may have a very sharp brilliant mind that grasps philosophy or science with ease.

The 10th house is ruled by Pisces, they may have unrealistic ideas about who they want to be in society. They may have big dreams about success and social standing. They are elusive to the public and can be a chameleon depending on the job. They have an acting ability. They need who they become to be of service to society.

Hope you enjoyed! 🙂

Mercury in the 8th house: Cutting Edge

If you have Mercury located in your 8th house you know words and ideas hold great power.

You are highly sensitive and aware of the importance of thoughts in shaping our world. Most probably, you are hyper-aware of what other people are thinking around you. Depending on the sign, this awareness can be focused on people close to you (water), society at large (air) or those in close proximity physically (Earth).

The 8th house is an intuitive house (ruled by Scorpio) therefore, although you may become fascinated with theories that explain why and how people think: Psychology, religion, criminology, science, spirituality and even Astrology- this is all a tool for you to try and understand what you simply already know. Your thinking is not rational and almost supernatural. Whatever rational tool you use to explain and create order- don’t forget that. After all, real healing can’t take place when not facing what is really there.

Growing up, you just knew more than was said or explained to you. You knew what members of the family were concerned about, their worries and fears. Being young, you didn’t have the words or full understanding necessary to express what you found out. This may have created patterns of repressing your thoughts as they caused anxiety. You were also exposed to secrets and topics that you couldn’t fully digest and had to repress. It is possible adults could sense your mature grasp of their situation. Some adults use children with this Mercury as their therapists: telling them all their problems. While others, fear and punish these children for knowing their secrets.

Which one was it? For whatever pattern played out, you still learned that your thoughts are…Dangerous. You didn’t know why, but you knew you had to start hiding them from others or someone will get hurt. You may have experienced, that your words can deeply hurt others and have shied away from expressing your ideas.

As you grew older, you started to learn how to put your intuitive knowing into words, images or some other form that others could grasp. That is why fields that study human behavior are very appealing to you personally, they help you make sense and order inside the turmoil and chaos in your mind. Remember, this is an emotional space for Mercury to be, therefore a search for order and healing is such a large part of your journey.

It is important for you to not get too tied to old ways of thinking. Just because in the past, something you said or though created a painful situation doesn’t mean it will always be so. Try new ways of thinking and learn to detach from thoughts that create fear.

On some deep level, you believe there is something flawed or even crazy about your mind. Again, this is simply a misunderstanding from the past.

I believe, the problem is not only those past situations where you hurt others or they hurt you. Rather, the problem is that you know within that you hold great power. This power scares you as they are afraid unleashing it will create destruction.  This is the typical Plutonian problem. In the case of mercury, it can be dealt with through expression. Look at the sign and aspects of your Mercury to find where you can let out steam in a positive way.

Because you repress thoughts that bother you, eventually they must come out. In that, your Mercury is highly creative. It has a lot of energy to unleash into this world. This energy can be used to create something new. Usually, I find Mercury in the 8th house people, do best when they express what they need to in order to feel good and cleanse the toxic waste of years of painful words and ideas. So once you work in a selfish manner, you become a canvas for new creations that others can appreciate.

Your mind tends to work in cycles and patterns. Once you have an idea of experience you never forget it and simply keep adding more to it during life. This goes for both positive happy memories and some difficult ones. You are good at analyzing almost anything and can make a great researcher. The key is…What you research must have “meat” to it. The Virgo can analyze dry number sand figures, but you?

You need to be fascinated and engaged. Naturally, human emotions are attractive. But what you might find it, you can be just as engaged with anything else if you find how. I mention this because it might prove helpful for you to find a positive focus- instead of the unsteady ocean of humanity.

If you find yourself overwhelmed, just engage with something harmless. Your mind is like an engine in need of fuel and you can’t go for long periods of time without intense probing.

The other extreme is also likely; you might find that after periods of “detoxing” your ways of thinking you need something new to be interested in. You might jump into whatever presents itself…You are always on the hunt.

Again, if you forget you are driven by intuition (it is very easy to do so), you might end up drowning in your new subject of obsession.

Many 8th house Mercury people, end up making themselves their prime subject of research…working on healing their mind and transforming their way of expression. In part, because of bad experiences in childhood and in part, because they are motivated to seek the root of everything. Subjects that are endless are the most attractive: the occult, spirituality, god, science and anything that can’t be fully understood.

You enjoy the process of understanding and searching for answers more than the answers. It a real thrill for you! And so careers that allow you to exercise your detective mind are a possibility. You probably dislike small talk and concert answers…You know things are always more complicated then they seem.  That attitude combined with your great listening skills can make you a valued friend and lover. You take your own promises seriously and treat others with a level of non-judgment. Perhaps, because you know where they are coming from and not because you think they are good.

Your way of communicating can be interesting and elusive. You probably heard the phrase: “what do you mean?” many time. You can learn to deliver your voice and create a mysterious atmosphere.

Some current examples of this Mercury are Mark Zuckerberg who influences the world through communication with Facebook and Eddie Murphy: who is unafraid to bring the taboo subject to light using comedy. In general, once the power of communication is unleashed you can become well known for your brand of communicating and have other people really drawn to you.

You can be ruthless with your words when deeply hurt. Although the knowledge of the effect words have, will over time help you avoid this. Still, it is a good idea to have relationships based on real trust, intimacy and shared interests. Relationships based just on social roles and mutual pleasures can’t hold your interest for very long.

Ultimately, your journey is all about learning how to act on the power you have and not fearing it. Balancing the need for dramatic intensity with the need for spiritual clarity and finding meaningful ways of self-expression. You will keep transforming all your life until you reach a point that feels true for you. Meanwhile, you are highly flexible and curious about all the possibilities. You are fearless about getting dirty in the process of your search. That is where the famous connection to the taboo comes from regarding this placement.

You will seek anywhere and find beauty in dark places. One day, shaping the world when you communicate what you find…Something others are too afraid to look into but can be valuable for healing us all.

Keys:

Knowing your own darkness, accepting the darkness of others.

Embracing your power to influence other people.

Looking your own fears in the eye.

Finding a subject of interest that can have a positive impact.

Letting go of old patterns of thinking.

Taking Care of your Mercury

In your natal chart, the planet Mercury might be overlooked in relation to your emotional well-being, but what can be more important than being able to connect with the world? To communicate with friends, lovers and family and to express your points of view to others? We as human beings need to feel heard and understood. We need it like air. Sometimes we talk because we want to feel we matter in the eyes of people. Sometimes we listen and offer our help and advice to loved ones. When we feel no one is listening or what we are saying is ignored we start to feel like we don’t matter. We ask: “What is wrong with me? Am I invisible?” This is Mercury territory. Sometimes, we change our communication just to fit in, and slowly we start to feel like we are lying to ourselves. This is normal and there is no avoiding compromising ourselves in society on some level. The problem starts, when this effects our self-esteem and ability to respect our boundaries. When a buildup of our unexpressed thoughts starts collecting like dirty laundry in our minds we become weaker. Knowing what your true Mercury needs are, can help you not overstep your own boundaries. Here is a general frame work for Mercury in your chart. Remember, aspects to other planets modify your Mercury and can serve as guide lines for dealing with any issue. The house would show you what area in your life this drama takes place.

Mercury in Fire signs:

You need to say whatever comes into your head. You are an immediate communicator. Holding your tongue feels like torture. You are honest in what you say and don’t see the point of diplomacy. You are very expressive, and people know that you will let them know if you love or hate something. You might feel as if people don’t realize there is more to your thoughts than you show. Your lesson is to learn that if you want to be honest in your opinion, you can give yourself time to take a step back and reflect. You might feel deeper aspects of your mind don’t get to be expressed and others don’t take you seriously. You can teach others to be fearless and less self-conscious. You will learn that not everyone is as fearless and sometimes not hurting feelings is just as important as any truth. Instead, express your clear and bright point of view through other means. You can encourage, lead and shine through your communication.

Mercury in Air signs:

You have many thoughts and ideas happening your mind, focusing on just one seems boring. You need to be stimulated by others. You need your thoughts to meet a point of focus in order to express. Silence is crippling for you and not connecting with others makes you sick. It doesn’t matter if you are understood as long as you are heard. You don’t mind playing devil’s advocate and can say things you don’t really mean. You enjoy small talk, banter and a good argument. You are a quick thinker and can be very objective about your opinions. You see forms of communication as art and in that sense truth is flexible and changing. You need to be around people who don’t try and put boundaries to your communication. It is important others know what you truly believe in and what is simply an exercise for you. Don’t be offended if people take what you say too seriously, just use humor to show them it’s not a big deal.

Mercury in Earth signs:

You like to have a strong foundation to any opinion. You don’t make up your mind without considering all options. You tend to communicate in ways that relate to the immediate world and its concerns. Whatever is happening around you is going to be on your mind. You have the ability to apply anything you study to your communication. Because you you’re your time to reflect before you speak, changing your mind can be a big effort of reconsidering an entire foundation. You think words matter and don’t take it lightly if someone offends you. You can communicate complicate things in a simple manner that anyone can understand. You prefer to listen and only say something if you are sure about the impact it will have. You are good at offering advice to people and they respect your opinion as it looks you worked hard for it. You hate being cornered or rushed by people and feel ignored and disrespected if that happens. You need people who would listen to you.

Mercury in Water signs:

You communicate only a small portion of what is on your mind. You feel thoughts are an endless process that you have no control over. You are strongly effected by opinions around you. You can be flexible in your communication and use non-verbal means. Using movement, dance or body language feels more honest. You adapt your communication to the circumstance at hand. You connect to the world and others through symbols and larger ideas. You sometimes erupt in very expressive outbursts and speeches about things you care about- that surprise people. You would rather stay silent than have a conflict. Words can wound you deeply. You can communicate what others are thinking better than they can. You are not so good at communicating what you are thinking. It changes anyway.

Moon in Virgo – the Beautiful Mind

I was debating writing about this Moon- it is one of the more demanding but then I thought how demanding it must be for those born with it- and decided to stop complaining.

So what is the Moon like in Virgo? Well the Moon is our mental and emotional inner image, it is how we react to things we care about. And what do we care about? When we are little we care about being loved, home, family and when we grow up this translates into our adult relationships.

Traditionally Virgo is very rational, analytical, detail oriented, but don’t forget it is also an Earth sign and one of the more sensual ones at that. Virgo thinks but it also feels through its practical endeavors. What makes the Virgo feel good is being able to get to the bottom of things, to know how they work, it digs in and then breaks the picture into little puzzle pieces- the emotional world of the Virgo, like the Taurus Moon needs stability, but of a different kind. The Virgo Moon needs to know everything is in place, all its thoughts and emotions neatly ordered within. This is all good, but emotions are not very neat and orderly things and so the Virgo Moon is in a flux about itself. As a result Virgo Moon people are very self-critical, they are never perfect enough, good enough. They ask the impossible from their own hearts- to stay in place and play by the rules. But hearts don’t do that do they? Behind the deep thoughts and knowledge of every Virgo Moon is a truly vulnerable person. We all are vulnerable but the Virgo moon is so because in childhood dealing with their inner world became a difficult task. Instead many Virgo Moon kids found themselves doing things: competing and winning medals, dancing, cooking and even working. The Virgo Moon is always busy- and it likes to be. Most Virgo Moon’s you will meet have a mountain of knowledge inside their heads which they take for granted.  They are the learners, the smart ones. The Moon does symbolize the mother and so the mother figure or any important feminine figure in their lives was probably very pushy- pushing them to do more, be more instead of just being. Maybe the mother was a teacher or even worse a mother who never got a professional outlet and bestowed that on their kid.

Every Moon has a task to deal with- the Virgo Moon needs to let go of that teacher in their heads and of all that noise. That is the issue, the constant noise of the mind. As they grow up, the Virgo Moon’s learn to find a healthy outlet for that cluttered mind- usually in a professional frame. They make great researchers, writers and therapists. Some just sit and meditate all day or in bad cases escape into drugs- self-criticism is a problem. Virgo is ruled by Mercury- so one thing Moon in Virgo can develop is emotional intelligence. They learn and use what they learn to be emotionally smart. Another good aspect of the Virgo Moon is its ability to think things over; they would not jump into stupid impulsive conclusions about anything. They are usually soft spoken and clever people and loyal friends. Virgo also rules health- so emotional health may be something they care and know much about. I also noticed Virgo Moons can be good speakers, especially if they are teaching you about something- which they will. Sometimes, the Virgo Moon gets so warped up in analyzing things, it misses the whole point. So they need friends who can tell them they need to just let go, and enjoy. The Virgo Moon is sensual remember? So if given a chance they know how to have a good earthy fun- but only as long as it falls into their own set of rules. The rules are completely subjective, so you wouldn’t know what they are. One Virgo Moon I knew, would work all day, chattering and gossiping in between- he was a clean cut guy, the kind that never drinked or smoked in his life. But one day during a University lecture lunch he got very drunk, seemed to have a good time. Later I learned he did it only because it was University related – part of the rules. So don’t be surprised to meet a very wild Virgo Moon- behind that they are thinking things over, I promise you.

The Virgo Moon does have some trouble in love. They know what they want and don’t want- which is great. But sometimes the standards can seem completely irrational to other people. Like a girl I knew who would only date a guy who never wears shorts. A good partner for this Moon would be someone like a Pisces- who is more emotional and dreamy. Preferably with some small issue that the Virgo Moon can fix, but no big issues pleas- the Virgo Moon has way too many things keeping them busy and a messed up partner isn’t helpful.  I also see this Moon finds it easier in charts of Fire signs and harder with more earth signs in the chart. The Virgo Moon should develop a sense of spiritual place in the world, and try and see how they can make their dreams a practical reality- they are amazing at that. They should cultivate their natural emotional intelligence, which is a great gift and remember to have a little thought free fun.

Uranus Square Mercury: The Incomplete Outsider

This post is completely unplanned for today, which isn’t surprising considering it is about the change causing Uranus. I was really going more towards Pluto, Scorpio and the like for my next subject…But ok, what Uranus wants Uranus gets- or maybe not?

Recently I was doing a reading for a person online that had this aspect and was asking for help dealing with it. The problem in their own words was not that they feel others don’t get them and that the whole world in fact completely misunderstands them. In traditional Astrology this aspect in a person’s chart is bad news.

It promises they will have a “scattered mind” a mess in the head really. But maybe you don’t know this but I’m a positive Astrologer- I use chart reading the way a therapist would (if they were not a therapist but an Astrologer) and I like offering practical advice more than delivering bad news to people.Anyway, to find a solution to this person’s problem or to yours if you have any Uranus problems in your chart, I needed to understand what the problem was. Uranus is a symbol of genius, electricity, Frankenstein, rebellion, change and anything new and technological.

It is the planet of our age- the age of Aquarius and also of your computer breaking down. Uranus is ruled by Aquarius and in many ways is kind of like Saturn that co-ruler of this sign for it likes to make life hard for you when it transits.

Aquarius is also the sign of fame and it has a big ego, without this ego no one would dare and try anything. Try to be innovative or try to become Elvis Presley (who had this aspect). But let’s face it: You are not Elvis or Madonna and Uranus squaring your Mercury is only resulting in issues. The issue being that you can’t express your thoughts to the world without feeling like an outsider. People don’t get you- or so you think. Part of that is that you don’t get yourself until you express this energy, this chain of crazy thoughts and ideas. But Uranus likes change so what happens is that the second you do express yourself- it doesn’t matter. You already don’t think it’s true and you feel that you must do or say something to make others contradict you!

You do this and they act like they don’t understand you and this keep the dangerous cycle going. The only reason this keep on happening is because your sense of self is so tied up to being right- to the big ego. You can’t stand to be wrong and you take the blame and self-punish. The punishment is being the outcast, the outsider, the rebel, the crazy girl or guy.

I think this isn’t fair to anyone and I want to suggest it doesn’t have to be so. What you have is Uranus in your chart and that equals an energy that is best used on a big scale. You have so much to offer to the world if you only knew.  Your thoughts that you can’t express- they are not always right but they always have the right to exist. That is the truth and the second you realize that then you will not be afraid to express your mind to the world without causing a conflict with it. This is the truth and the one that can save you.

My best advice to you is to always say what you think but without attaching ego to it. Let your crazy out but without attaching your sense of self to it. To make it easy for you, I would suggest choosing an 11th house setting: A group with a cause. When you speak for the cause then you don’t care if you are right or wrong. You are not an outsider anymore and you are not alone in what you say. Find this platform and speak up- the world would thank you for that.
