How to find the best career in your natal chart? A Scorpio Case

What career do you see here?

Is it possible for an astrologer to tell what career would suite you? Yes! Today I will show you how it can be done. Contrary to some circulating beliefs the entire chart needs to be considered to reach any conclusions. It does not make sense to only consider the 6th and 10th house or several aspects and reach a verdict. You want the person to be happy and to thrive at work but life is complex…Sometimes what brings a person the most money is not the best job for them and vice versa – their dream job may make them happy but not pay the rent. The work of the astrologer is always nuanced and requires finding solutions for all the complexities of an individual person. So, step number one would be to take into account that you are a unique human being and you need to make choices. You need to really define what the goal is and what comes first in your life. The second step is going to be reading your natal chart.

Below I outline a simplified but very efficient way you can do this. I am using a random natal chart as an example for this process. Please take into account that in a “real” reading many more details and considerations are required during the process.

“Who am I in the world?” This step requires looking at your natal chart as a whole. Are the planets located below or above the horizon? Is there a stellium that stands out? What about the chart ruler? Where is the Sun located?

These questions can give you a general direction about your personality type. In the chart we are looking at today we can note that the person has a Scorpio stelium in conjunction with Pluto that effects both the first and second house. This alone already tells us this is a person with strong will-power, opinions and ambition. They are also very connected to their desires and physical body. This is not a person who would be happy to be lazy or in service to something they do not feel passion towards. Even their Moon is ruled by Mars – the traditional ruler of Scorpio. The Moon is in Aries points to a very powerful impact of Mars/Pluto on their sense of Self. When a stellium is strong we can always note the opposite house of the individual. The 8th/9th house opposite Scorpio tells us this person is forced to grow via crisis and change. Gemini on the cusp would suggest that changes are swift and often hard to predict. It also tells us changes in their life can relate to information (Mercury). For example, they may be going on their marry way in life only to receive sudden news or gossip that changes everything…They can attract information about upcoming changes.

This theme requires the person to have a certain flexible nature about them. They learn to react fast to change and to continue on their journey. They know hardships and change. They also have lot of energy that needs outlet.  This person is not only very energetic but very sensitive and reactive. The Moon in Aries would add child-like energy and passion but also a hyper sensitivity to certain things. The Moon is on the descendent so we can say they are very sensitive and drained by the emotional demands of other people. They would prefer to take action than to sit through painful emotional displays.

We can also note this person has Libra ascendant opposite their Aries Moon which adds inner conflict regarding how they relate their own fiery will-power to the needs of others or to the requirements society makes of them.

We can also note this person is charismatic, attractive and makes an impact when they enter a room. This quick overview allows us to consider who we are dealing with and what type of career direction can suite them. So, for example, at this point we can say this person needs a job that is not boring, requires a lot of energy and taking action and allows them independence so they can express their strong will-power. The Libra ascendant tells us that they may use diplomacy and charm to win people to their cause…Not that they are soft and unyielding in personality. This means that although they are very good at getting along with people using nuanced and behind the scenes actions (Venus in Scorpio, Moon on Descendent ) – it drains them and is not their natural personality expression.

However, it is too early to make any verdicts about the best job for this Scorpio. Time for step number two.

What am I into?” This part is where you ask yourself what interests you have and what gets you working. The chart we are looking at today is of a Plutonic personality. Because even Venus here is in Scorpio, we can safely say that we should be looking at Mars as the prime motivator of the individual. If the person had a different chart, we may have needed to look at another planet. Pluto is conjunct Mercury which rules their Mars in Gemini. We can therefore say their work motivation is related to: Being in charge of change, crisis, important secrets, physical work with sharp tools, mechanics, risk taking around important papers and contracts.

Mercury/Mars in impact can rule not only sharp tools or secret documents but also the physical body and breathing. This tells us that…The person can work somewhere where having a commanding voice is of merit.

We can note that Mars does not make direct contact with their Scorpio Self at all. Instead, Mars is part of a grand-trine. This configuration reflects talents they have and can always count on. Because they are a ‘Plutonic’ personality we absolutely want to lean on any strengths and easy support we can find in the chart. The reason we are doing this step and looking at easy aspects is because we want to find positive support.  I encourage you to not neglect the talents you are gifted with (undeveloped they may be). Many times, astrologers over-focus on the hard aspects people have and sort of assume the easy aspects will come through. The reality is that “easy aspects” suck. People tend to ignore what they are born with and become over focused on their problems and trauma. This is especially true for people who tend to encounter the pain of Pluto and Saturn. The natal chart below is of a person who knows that life is about survival. Scorpio is always fearful and with such a stellium in the 1/2nd house they will be hyper aware of any dangers. However, they have a wonderfully supported Mars (the traditional ruler of Scorpio) that can give clues to how they get outside the mode of “life is hard” and find their passion in life. In addition, we can say this person would not want a boring job and their work needs to have energy to it. Mars in Gemini confirms this observation which we already made in step one.

Gemini thrives on something dynamic, flexible, fast paced, exciting, interesting and youthful. Mars is also a “young” and playful planet and it rules the Aries Moon. We can confirm that our person needs a job that is flexible and dynamic. We can also suggest they need the option to change pace at work and do something different every day. The Scorpio stellium tells us that not only must the job be dynamic and fast but the stakes must be high to keep them interested. This means they must feel they are overcoming mountains and challenges. This is a person who would be super successful at navigating high stakes and risks. They would not do as well if they had to sit in peace and push papers. Scorpio/Aries needs not only risks but fast results. They will not wait for their project to be done over months and months. They would rather be unemployed.

We can conclude the job needs high risk management, fast results, interesting daily activity and the option to be flexible and change the pace if they get tired. Why? Because this person has a Libra ascendant and a Moon opposite it. They would work to death if people demand it but they will burn out fast. The Gemini Mars confirms the need for a “work hard play hard” type of career. Earth signs can sustain energy for a long time but fiery Plutonic types tend to work better in short bursts of intense energy.

See? Already we know the type of careers we can discount for this individual and what makes them successful. Step 3 will require a deeper look into the exact profession they can choose.

We can next note the individual has Saturn conjunct their IC and square Aries Moon/7th house. We can say that the person had one or two parents who held authority and were rather strict. We can also say that expressing emotions in an open way was not something they could do at home. Saturn makes us mature in positive ways but also shows our fears. Here the person is very fearful of enticing negative reactions from people. They often had to deal with negative emotion and passive-aggressive anger from their family. As a result, they became stoic and learned that by showing less emotion (Saturn) they could avoid the volcano and onslaught of other people’s needy reactions (Moon).

There is a lot more to be said about this aspect but for our purposes we can say this person learned to restrain their emotional needs. Saturn offers much needed discipline and structure to their expression and it adds clues about ways to direct their will-power. Mars/Pluto in and of itself can lack stamina and works in short-term explosions of energy. It is also not so good at sports or anything to do with physical discipline over long periods of time. Saturn here offers our strong Scorpio much needed maturity and ability to stay focused. At the same time, it tells us they better build a strong foundation they can stand on. They need their own home and sense of security to help offset the negative reactions of others. Saturn squares are very common in charts of people who take the hardest jobs like emergency doctors, first responders and criminal profilers etc.

The 6th house here is also ruled by Mars which once again points towards a career that must relate to crisis and fast-paced response. I would also consider the Neptune/Uranus in Capricorn in the 3rd (Gemini) to suggest that our Scorpio wants to be of service via the information they give to others.  The MC is ruled by Aries Moon on the DSC which once again tells us they need to share information with a lot of people. Cancer is about crowds and relating to the emotions of society. The Gemini influence on all the Mars/Pluto ruled planets in the natal chart relates to having a voice and being heard.

The Scorpio stellium is square Leo Jupiter in the 10thhouse which tells us they must be on some sort of stage or out in public solving a crisis or preaching to people about something to do with: Power, survival, broken social values, fears, trauma and even corrupt government structures. The Moon on the DSC tells us they will be impacting the emotions of people who are in danger of some sort but they do so by moving through/communicating in hard situations. They will also need the diplomacy of Venus to get the job done and the control of Saturn to avoid their own emotions on the job. The key components of their career are:

They have a dangerous dynamic job, they have a voice, they are heard by a large audience, they are communicating about something that needs fixing, they control their emotions, they are famous for taking risks, they help people by being of service with their information, they entice the emotions of anger, fear and justice in other people.

Moon in Scorpio Children

The Moon is our inner intuitive, unconscious and reactive self. The Moon more than any other planet, is tied to how we feel safe and secure in the world. It is also the most helpless part of ourselves and embodies lessons we learned in infancy before we could speak. A good understanding of the natal Moon can provide you with tools that finally bring you out of a state of helplessness and defeat to a sense of maturity and independence.

If you were born with the Moon in Scorpio, you have learned early in life that the world is unsafe and full of dangers lurking under the surface. You may have learned that survival is important from your mother, who had to go through some form of ‘survival’ before you were born or in her own family relationships. The mother is usually a fighter for her children and their security. Often, the mothers of Scorpio Moon children struggled with making sure the basic needs for security, food and shelter are being met. As a result, the sense of ‘fight and flight’ is a deep part of the inner world of the Scorpio Moon child. The part of the brain that reacts to danger tends to be most active.

In some cases, the survival instinct of the Scorpio Moon is related to dark secrets in the family dynamics that impact how much the mother feels secure. It is also no uncommon for the birth itself to be somewhat traumatic or involve medical intervention. However, even with the fear lurking around Scorpio Moon children they also learn deep attachment very early. This is not surprising because infants are completely dependent on their caregivers for survival. The infant must bond with the adults around them to meet their needs. Scorpio Moon children are by nature very attuned to the needs of others because they feel that their survival depends on it.

That is not to say they do not experience real love and care from their caregivers – they do. The mother tends to be passionately focused on the needs of the child. However, Scorpio Moon children often feel like their physical needs are the prime focus. The parents can focus on feeding them, clothing them or making sure they are healthy and safe. In the process, the emotional needs of this sensitive Moon can become neglected and eventually concealed. The stereotype of the Scorpio Moon as “secretive’” is somewhat disingenuous to their true nature which is raw and terribly honest. The concealment of their needs and true thoughts is a learned behavior.

The Scorpio Moon child starts out completely open to receive all signals from the world around it with no filter. They tend to pick up on the fears and worries of the adults with a unique sensitivity that they feel in their bodies. This is why Scorpio Moon children who do not learn to deal with their emotions tend to suffer from anxiety or nightmares. The worst thing you can tell a Scorpio Moon child is that “everything is ok” when they clearly feel their heart hammering in their chest. Sadly, many Scorpio Moon children learn to ignore their emotions and hide them even from their own conscious minds. It is very important that the adults around them tell them to articulate how they feel with words and teach them to respect their emotions. Some Moon signs thrive on playful distractions and games, but the Scorpio moon needs to feel involved in the family issues or they become fearful. If a crisis is happening in the house, it is a good idea to involve the Scorpio Moon in the solution. They need to feel involved in the dangers around them to feel secure. This means that if the parents are going through a hard time financially, it is better to tell the child that is the case and show them what steps are being taken to make things better. If one of the parents feels sad and angry, they should admit it to the Scorpio moon child and show them ways to cope with negative emotions. Otherwise the child will start to to second-guess they intuition and mistrust it.

Scorpio Moon children are actually very easy to appease with honesty and when you show a sense of competency. They do not like being treated as immature and like they are incapable of understanding the complexities of the adult world. They are also right not to tolerate such treatment because they can see behind the veil and intuit what the adults are feeling.

The adults around them may find it somewhat intimidating that the child knows so much and sometimes makes remarks about the true nature of their issues and fears. This ‘fear’ the adults feel around the Scorpio Moon child can be exceedingly hurtful because it signals to the child that something is wrong with them. The parents must show they value the Scorpio Moon’s insights. The Scorpio Moon child might blurt secrets that they shouldn’t but they should never be punished for doing what they naturally do best.

A Scorpio Moon child is a blessing to any family in many ways. Through them, the adults become aware of the wounds and skeletons in the closet and the hidden strengths they have to rise above their circumstances. The complicated family history would always be a theme in any home the Scorpio Moon is born into- but also would be the power, strengths and ambition of the family members. It is not uncommon for the Scorpio Moon child to be born into a poor family that becomes rich or a wounded family that becomes strong. They have a secret role in making things like that happen.

The women in the child’s family would tend to be influential figures who overcame many challenges. The men, too, can be fighters and athletes who teach the child how to win. The siblings of the Scorpio Moon tend to be very important, although the relationship with them can often be somewhat complex.
The Scorpio Moon needs to feel safe above all else. They have a storm inside of them that is composed of the fears of all the adults around them. They are too young to know that their worries are sometimes unrelated to real threats. They need to learn skills to articulate their fears and to respect them as valid. Otherwise, they will start to conceal their feelings from everyone – including themselves. They should also learn grounding techniques like breathing and meditation early on to feel secure even when their bodies react to danger. The adults can learn a lot from this child if they only stop and listen. If the adults fear the Scorpio Moon child, there is something for them to bring out of the shadows. This little sage with large all-knowing eyes is a blessing and a beauty to behold. They will make sure all the darkness comes out and turns into light.

Moon conjunct/square Pluto in Synastry

If you have a Moon conjunct Pluto with someone you can look forward to feeling attached on a deep level.  This attachment would make it very difficult for two people to not become psychologically linked.

What is a psychological link?  It is when you and another person become vulnerable with each other and exchange a sense of intimacy. This feeling can become very addictive because you become open to parts of yourself that are usually controlled. Moon-Pluto works like deep water that sips into the earth of your foundation. Who you think you are, your personality and social identity become irrelevant when this happens. The couple may experience a sense of crisis about parts of themselves they used to find natural and easy. Suddenly, your emotional reactions, childhood habits and sense of security are put on display.

You may feel this is happening because your partner has a way of making you feel seen.  You may think that something about them is making you feel safe enough to not hide who you are. The Pluto person has a tendency to skip social politeness and go straight into the emotional being of the Moon person. There is often a sense of not knowing why the attraction is so alluring and strong. In actuality, both people are fascinated with seeing their own hidden, repressed or feral parts come to light. There is a mistaken belief that the other person holds the power to understand us. This belief tends to make people fascinated and obsessed with each other.

The truth is, that the relationship itself can be very revealing and raw. We can’t hide the fact we do things because of some need we have and it feels good to know the other person feels this compulsion too. It also feels very good that it is an unspoken, mysterious connection where both people know they are playing cat and mouse. The fact it is such an unspoken current of the relationship makes it attractive and even sexy. There is a lot of space for both people to project their own animalistic yearning onto the other person and let that fester and grow into a compulsion to become emotionally naked. This aspect tends to override the fact that two people have nothing in common or might not even be one another’s “type”. It creates a pulsing sense of urgency to bond, get emotionally naked and reveal all secrets. This sense of compulsion creates a lot of fear or even guilt in both people. They may ask themselves why do they feel so bewitched with this person? What is it about them that makes it is so important to connect?

Some people experience a sense of repulsion with the other person. They fear their own need to get close to them and they even blame their partner for trying to manipulate them. They might turn to various manipulations in the form of trying to shape and control the relationship dynamic. They want the other person and they would never give up but they deal with their fear by being the one in control of the emotional well-being of the other person (usually the Moon). It is very Moon for the Pluto person to act like a therapist or psychologist so that they can catalog the emotional reactions of the Moon person.

The Moon person when Pluto crosses the line

They do so to ‘help’ the Moon person open up and feel safe. They want Moon to open up so they can feed on the rich emotional nature and sensitivity of their display. It makes Pluto feel powerful and in charge of this kingdom that is the heart of the Moon person. They genuinely revel and enjoy the Moon person’s weakness and displays of instinctive reactions. The Moon person feels very validated that the Pluto person is not running away when seeing them like that. They feel they can be messy, sad, hurt and as dark as can be and still the Pluto person would love them. The problem is that the Pluto person is not always aware that what they really want is to experience their own repressed nature through the Moon person. They may miscalculate their own obsessions and needs when playing this game. For example, they might act cold in order to make the Moon person show how much they need them. By the time the Moon person surrenders and admits they can’t live without the they have repressed their own yearning for them so much that they might lash out in an almost aggressive manner. They would become possessive and fearful and in actuality the Moon person would have the upper hand in this situation. Why? Because they are connected to their truth and emotions and can admit what they need. The Pluto person would intuitively sense this fact and become even more obsessed with finding ways to predict and catalog the emotional reactions of their partner.

If Venus is involved in the Synastry they might do so through kind gestures and nurturing ways. For example, they would want to know what their partner’s favorite food or gift is and use that knowledge when they feel the Moon person is shifting away from the bond. They would show the Moon person with all sorts of actions but would never reveal their own compulsive need to also receive affection and nurturing. It is almost like the Pluto person is living their emotions through the Moon person. This creates a very co-dependent dynamic because both people can’t really fully experience who they are without the other person. The Moon person lost their guard and “skin” to the point where they are very unsafe if the Pluto person stops being their shield. The Pluto person acts like a protective barrier against any outside influence on the Moon person. They can very genuinely keep them safe from harm but this safety means the Moon person must stay in the imaginary fort that Pluto created for them.

The Moon should ask themselves whether this fort is a golden cage, a prison or home? It is usually all three.

The healthier the relationship the more honest Pluto can be about how attached they are to the Moon. The less honest they are with themselves about why they provoke or protect the Moon the more likely this relationship would turn into a cage where they both feel exposed, weak and unfulfilled. Yet, they would always care and love one another because no other person has ever touched them so deeply and exposed them to something they didn’t think was possible in our world that can be called real intimacy. Intimacy not based on anything superficial but on real sharing of two souls. They might recognize the relationship is unhealthy and move on but with a sense of gratitude for the experience. It is also possible they would stay but both would have to transform and be very raw with each other about their fears and their need to feel safe. If they are ready to work together they would become conjoined into an entity that is hard to destruct. The bond would be unbreakable and fiercely loyal.

Pluto opposite Venus in Synastry: Beauty and the Beast

This aspect in Synastry tends to bind people together with an interesting effect. Because it is an opposition, it can often swing between different extremes; between enlightened love (Venus) and fear of vulnerability (Pluto). The emotional roller-coaster tends to bind the couple together because “we have been through so much and we are still here.” This is a typical syndrome for better and for worse.

This is a couple that together can learn a lot about being vulnerable and looking their biggest fears in the face. The Venus person learns that their love is valuable and can heal the pain and fear of the Pluto person. The Pluto person learns that love is not a weakness and over time becomes more protective, gentle and caring towards the Venus person. It is also true that the Venus person can act more Plutonian over time because they learn that the Pluto partner does not always respect “softness”. The real key lesson here for Venus is not to fall prey to this scenario and still stand by their values. If Venus allows the Pluto person to dominate them in the relationship, they will in effect only escalate the bad behavior of Pluto. Venus must stand strong in its conviction that is it lovable and beautiful no matter what.

Pluto who is secretly very deeply attracted and magnetized by this promise of true love will learn to open up and let go of controlling behaviors. Of course, a lot depends on the state of these planets in the natal charts of the individuals. Nevertheless, even in relationships that don’t last long, both partners transform on a deep level and learn a lot about what love means to them.

I should also add that these relationships tend to be very compulsive in the early stages. The couple knows that something unique and deep is at play but they can’t articulate it. They might feel that there is a potential for something powerful. Venus can feel that a great deal of protection, devotion and care is possible, while Pluto might feel that finally they can share their dark side with someone who won’t run away. This is also one of those aspects that like wine gets better with time. So if you are struggling I would suggest both partners take a step back and ask themselves what they value in the other person. Sometimes the intensity of this connection can be too overwhelming so being able to take time apart is important.

People with natal Pluto aspects would find it more familiar (not easier) to deal with this opposition. The Pluto person is going to struggle with their worst nature coming into play, even if normally they are the sweetest person around. Venus knows how to push the buttons of Pluto too! The magical charm of Venus is often very self-indulgent and not always willing to go into the deep dark waters of Pluto. Pluto mostly struggles with a lot of old baggage and fears that don’t relate to the actual relationship.

At the end of the day, this aspect requires a lot of self-honesty so that both partners don’t misuse the power they hold over each other. The reward is a truly intimate relationship that is strong like an armor. A couple that manages this aspect in a constructive way can withstand struggles and anything thrown at them and still stay together. I would note, that it is important that this couple doesn’t only stay together because of the difficulties they survived or the amazing sexual connection. The Synastry chart must have some additional aspects that allow space for fun, play and softness. We are all vulnerable and sometimes it is alright to not go into our pain and take a break. My last suggestion is that the couple openly talk about their fears so they don’t simmer under the surface and erupt into struggles later. Overall, this aspect is very passionate, intimate and healing.

Mercury in the 8th house: Cutting Edge

If you have Mercury located in your 8th house you know words and ideas hold great power.

You are highly sensitive and aware of the importance of thoughts in shaping our world. Most probably, you are hyper-aware of what other people are thinking around you. Depending on the sign, this awareness can be focused on people close to you (water), society at large (air) or those in close proximity physically (Earth).

The 8th house is an intuitive house (ruled by Scorpio) therefore, although you may become fascinated with theories that explain why and how people think: Psychology, religion, criminology, science, spirituality and even Astrology- this is all a tool for you to try and understand what you simply already know. Your thinking is not rational and almost supernatural. Whatever rational tool you use to explain and create order- don’t forget that. After all, real healing can’t take place when not facing what is really there.

Growing up, you just knew more than was said or explained to you. You knew what members of the family were concerned about, their worries and fears. Being young, you didn’t have the words or full understanding necessary to express what you found out. This may have created patterns of repressing your thoughts as they caused anxiety. You were also exposed to secrets and topics that you couldn’t fully digest and had to repress. It is possible adults could sense your mature grasp of their situation. Some adults use children with this Mercury as their therapists: telling them all their problems. While others, fear and punish these children for knowing their secrets.

Which one was it? For whatever pattern played out, you still learned that your thoughts are…Dangerous. You didn’t know why, but you knew you had to start hiding them from others or someone will get hurt. You may have experienced, that your words can deeply hurt others and have shied away from expressing your ideas.

As you grew older, you started to learn how to put your intuitive knowing into words, images or some other form that others could grasp. That is why fields that study human behavior are very appealing to you personally, they help you make sense and order inside the turmoil and chaos in your mind. Remember, this is an emotional space for Mercury to be, therefore a search for order and healing is such a large part of your journey.

It is important for you to not get too tied to old ways of thinking. Just because in the past, something you said or though created a painful situation doesn’t mean it will always be so. Try new ways of thinking and learn to detach from thoughts that create fear.

On some deep level, you believe there is something flawed or even crazy about your mind. Again, this is simply a misunderstanding from the past.

I believe, the problem is not only those past situations where you hurt others or they hurt you. Rather, the problem is that you know within that you hold great power. This power scares you as they are afraid unleashing it will create destruction.  This is the typical Plutonian problem. In the case of mercury, it can be dealt with through expression. Look at the sign and aspects of your Mercury to find where you can let out steam in a positive way.

Because you repress thoughts that bother you, eventually they must come out. In that, your Mercury is highly creative. It has a lot of energy to unleash into this world. This energy can be used to create something new. Usually, I find Mercury in the 8th house people, do best when they express what they need to in order to feel good and cleanse the toxic waste of years of painful words and ideas. So once you work in a selfish manner, you become a canvas for new creations that others can appreciate.

Your mind tends to work in cycles and patterns. Once you have an idea of experience you never forget it and simply keep adding more to it during life. This goes for both positive happy memories and some difficult ones. You are good at analyzing almost anything and can make a great researcher. The key is…What you research must have “meat” to it. The Virgo can analyze dry number sand figures, but you?

You need to be fascinated and engaged. Naturally, human emotions are attractive. But what you might find it, you can be just as engaged with anything else if you find how. I mention this because it might prove helpful for you to find a positive focus- instead of the unsteady ocean of humanity.

If you find yourself overwhelmed, just engage with something harmless. Your mind is like an engine in need of fuel and you can’t go for long periods of time without intense probing.

The other extreme is also likely; you might find that after periods of “detoxing” your ways of thinking you need something new to be interested in. You might jump into whatever presents itself…You are always on the hunt.

Again, if you forget you are driven by intuition (it is very easy to do so), you might end up drowning in your new subject of obsession.

Many 8th house Mercury people, end up making themselves their prime subject of research…working on healing their mind and transforming their way of expression. In part, because of bad experiences in childhood and in part, because they are motivated to seek the root of everything. Subjects that are endless are the most attractive: the occult, spirituality, god, science and anything that can’t be fully understood.

You enjoy the process of understanding and searching for answers more than the answers. It a real thrill for you! And so careers that allow you to exercise your detective mind are a possibility. You probably dislike small talk and concert answers…You know things are always more complicated then they seem.  That attitude combined with your great listening skills can make you a valued friend and lover. You take your own promises seriously and treat others with a level of non-judgment. Perhaps, because you know where they are coming from and not because you think they are good.

Your way of communicating can be interesting and elusive. You probably heard the phrase: “what do you mean?” many time. You can learn to deliver your voice and create a mysterious atmosphere.

Some current examples of this Mercury are Mark Zuckerberg who influences the world through communication with Facebook and Eddie Murphy: who is unafraid to bring the taboo subject to light using comedy. In general, once the power of communication is unleashed you can become well known for your brand of communicating and have other people really drawn to you.

You can be ruthless with your words when deeply hurt. Although the knowledge of the effect words have, will over time help you avoid this. Still, it is a good idea to have relationships based on real trust, intimacy and shared interests. Relationships based just on social roles and mutual pleasures can’t hold your interest for very long.

Ultimately, your journey is all about learning how to act on the power you have and not fearing it. Balancing the need for dramatic intensity with the need for spiritual clarity and finding meaningful ways of self-expression. You will keep transforming all your life until you reach a point that feels true for you. Meanwhile, you are highly flexible and curious about all the possibilities. You are fearless about getting dirty in the process of your search. That is where the famous connection to the taboo comes from regarding this placement.

You will seek anywhere and find beauty in dark places. One day, shaping the world when you communicate what you find…Something others are too afraid to look into but can be valuable for healing us all.

Keys:

Knowing your own darkness, accepting the darkness of others.

Embracing your power to influence other people.

Looking your own fears in the eye.

Finding a subject of interest that can have a positive impact.

Letting go of old patterns of thinking.

Quick post: Beyoncé BET Awards review

“Tryna rain, tryna rain on the thunder
Tell the storm I’m new

I’m telling these tears, “Go and fall away, fall away”
May the last one burn into flames”

Beyonce has her Moon in Scorpio and a strong Libra influence that allows her to express it in artistic and visual means that are still pleasing to the public.

So…Orginally this blog started with my own deep fascination with how popular media and music reflected individual birth charts to a T. The fascination hasn’t waned and so I would love to start posting some bits and pieces about pop culture in addition to the informative posts.

This year Beyonce has released her masterpiece of death and rebirth with Lemonade. A recent live performance of the track “Freedom” is just a prime example of everything Scorpio. The visual album tells us a story fo death and rebirth with strong undertones of jealousy and passion. Freedom is a culmination of all the suffering love brings. Scorpio goes through many deep painful emotions until it dies and is reborn again with new understanding.

Beyonce tells us that love does win and with her strong Libra (Venus) placements love is part of the story- but not really. Rather Lemonade is more a story of individual growth and finding the true self- out of the weak ashes is reborn  a strong woman. Sexuality is both the cause of pain- betrayal, possessiveness, and jealousy but also the redeeming power that allows Beyonce to be reborn as an all-powerful goddess with strong Venusian qualities.

Lemonade is a Venusian creation in that it uses images that serve as mirrors of her transformation into that new person. It is also a highly sensual experience full of texture, color merged sound and blunt sexuality. Sexuality that is both very very cultivated (Libra) artificial if you will. The kind where Beyonce has her hair all flowing and her makeup glowing as her curves light up the screen.  And very raw, natural feminine Beyonce  where her eyes (soul-Moon) let us see a more vulnerable side to her. The power of the feminine is a theme very present in all her music but here it takes a dark tone never seen before. Emotions are not meant to be pretty but they gain a new beauty in their service to the rebirth of the self.

In her recent 2016 BET Awards performance of Freedom, we see dancers glide across calm waters as Beyonce starts chanting away her prayer, gaining strength and conviction in her true path: freedom from darkness, freedom from dependence- freedom only gained through love. The kind of love that doesn’t ask you to shut your power away- instead the Scorpio love is a healing storm that burns all evil in it’s path and brings new life. Think about the final scene of Lemonade, it all ends with Blue Ivy, her daughter. Transformed, Beyonce can leave the demonic behind and come back to being a mother and a wife.

Scorpio Moon people go through this types of currents of change all their lives- finally, popular culture gives the rest of us a glimpse into these depths and the rewards of suffering. Beyonce wins and she takes us on a journey towards that triumph.

Analyzing the performance it is all rather straight forward and spectacular. The lighting casts the stage in burning orange and red – almost blood like but reminiscent to the colors of dawn and a new beginning. Red fog welcomes Beyonce and her tribe on stage to the sounds of drums. The crowd helps the ritual along as they step on stage. We first see Beyonce as a shadow cloaked in white light. As the light hits the stage, she and her tribe of dancers get ready for their battle for freedom. Their movements start to become wider and the water is disturbed into little puddles – the change has begun. Beyonce starts singing and as she gains momentum the water is turned into a wavy surface, much harder to control. Water like the Moon and like Scorpio is an emotional current and as such it needs to be surfed on- not controlled.  It seems to me the battle is won only when water stops to be that current danced on and rains starts falling in golden shimmers on top of Beyonce. Water is not a force from below- but from above it is able to wash away the past, the pain, the old self if you will. Washed clean the mistakes and sings bring out the freedom.

The water is still as the dancers glide- they are the spirits that would soon help the witch cast away her enemies. Waters are still and the goddess starts her song but when water rains down it is  a celebration. Therefore when Beyonce sings the verse: “Freedom! Freedom! I can’t move, Freedom, cut me loose!”  The dancers splash across the stage bringing together water from above and below into a new whole. The red light as mentioned before symbolizes both blood- life, birth but also  death- of the old self but perhaps a new beginning and dawn.

Is it beautiful? Or is it disturbing? You judge. Probably it is both and no one said it better: “Beauty is terror”- Donna Tartt. For that another post.

How the Scorpio Moon goes Mad

The Scorpio wants to feel for the sake of feeling. The feeling is mistaken for truth when in fact, truth is to be found when the waves of emotions die down.

Truth is within you if you could only see the magnificent beauty of your own soul, instead of the endless current of moods you live in, If only…But you crave emotion and it is the only way you know to be alive. Is being alive the same as living?  the answer is no. If this resonated with you at all then continue reading and If not please excuse this moody post.

“Sensitive people usually love deeply and hate deeply. They don’t know any other way to live than by extremes because their emotional thermostat is broken.”
― Shannon L. Adler

Today I want to talk about the complicated emotional makeup of the Moon in Scorpio. This is especially relevant as this placement is all about the experience of emotions in life. I want to write to you- my Moon in Scorpio dear person, as perhaps this might be helpful for you. I know you don’t shy away from gruesome images, hard truths and painful memories. So I trust you will forgive my harshness. Let’s face it, you are a little mad by nature or at least by nurture. Whatever the case, you are prone to at least a few problems which cause you to experience inner turmoil. The minor version of your crazy is that of the obsessive thinker- you never let a thought or idea go once in enters your head, do you? You are prone to attach your thoughts to events in your life and reimagine them over and over. Naturally you are prone various nervous break downs and insomnia. The less minor version of your crazy is all about waves, waves of ups and downs that can make the latest thriller seem tame as a puppy. Something along the lines of a bipolar disorder. You feel deeply they tell you- sure, but it just happens you feel deeply in cycles of joy and desperation. It is not a flat line of depth you experience but a storm that is within you- always.

There is nothing very wrong with you, in fact you are the most gifted individual in terms of how experienced you are in all range of feeling and knowing. But…lets ask a simple question? why are you feeling at all? What is it that you really feel?

Imagine you are sitting in your living room in a comfy chair and a commercial comes up on TV. Something about it makes you feel things. Is that emotion real? Probably not you will say, it was manipulated to make you buy stuff. You are right about that one. The question is what are you buying into every day? The secret truth is you are buying into you Scorpio Moon, the master of emotional manipulation. Thats why you feel bad and thats why things are so wrong. all the F***** time. You were born with the Moon in Scorpio, you are unique! You were born to feel and that is what you truly desire. To reach the depth of human experience and find out the truth. Yes you see- you want to feel because you want to find out truth. But we all know emotions can lie, don’t we? Are feelings really the way to the light? Perhaps for you they are. But not so fast dear…You are going mad. You are obsessed, depressed, sad, lonely, alone, angry. Why does that happen when all you wanted was to feel?

The answer is boring but true. You have a built-in mechanism (Moon) that is able to create emotion out of thin air. You have this need for feeling that isn’t satisfied with daily existence. Anyone else feels things because of events in their life.

They see a tiger? They feel fear. You don’t see a tiger and so you imagine a big scary tiger until you feel scared for you life. Thats is because your true secret fear is that of not feeling- of being empty. That would mean you are dead. Being alive for you is feeling and any moment without it must be the end. So you have this gift, this secret ability to fuel and create feelings for the sake of every breath you take. This is a gift- when it isn’t torturing you to bits. Sadly, for most of you Scorpio Moon’s this ability isn’t used for the creation of amazing art or for saving the world with you convictions. I can think of famous ones who did just that. Instead, you keep needing stimuli within you (it is not something you show) and you self-destruct. It is human nature to find negative emotions and thoughts easy to conjure and maintain. So…that is what happens when you are young. You seek emotions and when it isn’t there you create it while convincing yourself it is real and caused by X or Y.

You are not crazy, you are just walking around with this lava that is about to burn you. I beg you to either admit that you have needs to truth and love and to seek them outside of your own twisted mind, or to at least find release and expression.

Is what you feel caused by an outward event? Is it caused by the memories of the past?

What matters for you is to learn a few things before you can shine like the diamond you are.

First, learn to live in the present and to ride its current that will take you into a health future. Second, learn the usefulness of boundaries so as to differentiate your feelings from the world- you are an empath after all. Third, face your biggest fear- which is fear itself. Last, most important is learn you mission to uncover truth which you can through honest emotions not conjured by artificial means. Be it addictions, relationships or your own glorious mind. You devil.

Venus in the 8th house/Venus in Scorpio

“That amazing moment when you find out the truth”

Note: though this post describes the development of a Venus in the 8th house it greatly applies to people with charts that involve many/planets in the 8th and aspects to Pluto between the Sun and Venus

***

How does Venus  translate in its opposite house of Scorpio?  Venus as you know, is ruled by Taurus- a strong sensual sign in some ways reminiscent of its opposite Scorpio. After all, both signs know what they want and value and they will do a lot to make sure they have it.  Venus is usually described as the planet of love and beauty, but in truth it is more the planet of values. It so happens that we value is: beauty, luxury and love. But where Venus is placed and how it is aspected will greatly differ in terms of what it is really about.  I would suggest that Venus is more about the sensual material things in life: from trips abroad to fashion, it is very much involved. In the 8th, these material things need to transform into the  spiritual.

The 8th house is a complicated house. I once described it as a dark cave or hole- and I stand by that. And as you know a dark cave or hole is dark only in contrast to all the light outside. If so, any planet in some hidden manner shines through in this house! It’s a complicated ordeal don’t get me wrong- but it’s not a negative one.  Then again it sure can be- as Venus is so sensual that it can be put to the test in a house that deals with other people’s money and sex. That said, let me describe this placement to the best of my ability.

Venus in the 8th development:

Venus in the 8th house has a love problem- their lesson in life is to learn a full all-consuming spiritual love that lets go of power. These are people with a very rich emotional life- no matter if its good or bad they tend to value this intensity that makes them feel alive. This life is usually well hidden or obscured by all sorts of things so other people rarely know the extent of feeling that is there. A Venus in the 8th house was born with love emanating from them in waves- somewhat erotic or misunderstood most likely by them and their families. The type of reactions this Scorpio/8th house Venus arouses from people as children even is a bit freighting. People around them feel confronted with their own hidden needs and so they try to control or become controlled by the young 8th house Venus. The result is that extreme boundaries and issues of power and control are a major theme in any 8th house love life- on that a little  later.

How that plays out differs- a Leo 8th house Venus may be that kid that plays in theater or even dances while the Virgo Venus may become so strict with controlling themselves and their “wrong” emotions and urges  to the point of repression.  The key here is, that almost always their loving nature is not understood by others so much. Like Plutonian people they too can be labeled as dangerous, strange and wrong by parents and teachers or society. Why? They don’t know their own love nature and so they accept what other people tell them- that they are a little too intense and a little wild or maybe even crazy.

As teenagers, they naturally become most aware and awakened to their potential for emotional understanding- as they usually have a high intelligence in this regard, they know that things are complicated early on, and during this stage of life they become somewhat preoccupied with this range of emotions that can be labeled as “dark”.  It is common for them to be interested in anything the subculture had to offer as long as it is also somewhat beautiful in a broken or poetic kind of way. They want to learn and feel everything and therefore, keep finding themselves in situations that are a little extreme or overwhelming. They form relationships that offer them the experience of deep emotional intimacy.  The thing is that teenagers though prone to dramatic behaviors and mood swings, don’t always have the capacity for a relationship not based on superficial things that is so fully needed by the Venus in the 8th house. At first, they may try very hard to fit into those superficial roles- they do know how to style themselves in that way that makes them popular. After all they are so into the rebel counter culture. If they manage to find their place in that way that is great but chances are they will find most relationships lack the meaning and loyalty they so value.  It is during their teenage years they begin to reconsider all they learned as children about their ability to give and receive love.  By their love of rebel culture, they allow themselves not to control the intense urges for intimacy. You see- it is all just a tool for that end and most likely they don’t agree with the values of the counter- culture.  They simply use the fashion, music and rhetoric of a darker nature to allow some healthy self-expression.

The way this plays out greatly differs- some 8th house Venus teens allow the feelings to rise through art, books or even sports. They may hide in their room for hours writing suicidal poetry and listening to Gothic music. Others take a more risky road that involves going out into the world without protection- as protecting their heart is not going to allow them to delve deep into the human love they yearn to experience. Whether in fantasy or reality, most 8th house Venus has stormy teenage years that involved some major transformation as a result of a relationship or even a tragedy.

The mature 8th house Venus is a person that finally cultivated their attraction to the fatal with a high level of ability to give and receive erotic energy. The best way to illustrate this is by the stages described above. The first stage involved a denial of one’s ability to love and be loved in the way that as needed. Even if they were very loved by people- just not in  a way that felt good.  They may have learned that when they love another- be it a parent, brother or friends- it is wrong. They learned that they take too much- ask for too much and give something that others understand as erotic instead of pure. By erotic I mean it aroused some dark emotional currents in their loved ones and as a result they were deeply rejected or used- all this happens on some very invisible level and chances are it happens in the Venus 8th house person’s soul- which makes it a very real experience for them. This description is also true in some way about other planets in the 8th house and major aspects to Pluto (I wish to write a post just about that one day).

In addition to having some complicated emotional needs and a lot of lessons about being loved and loving others. Venus in the 8th house is greatly related with dealing with other people’s money and possessions. These people may not arouse other people to be nice to them but it arouses them to trust them with what they own. Interesting right? In part I believe that the great emotional needs they had translated into material and sensual needs- more easily answered!  Even if they grew up very poor they still knew how to find something or receive what they wanted from others- as long as it was material. The same intense and (sorry but it’s the best word) erotic energy they had allowed them to attract luxury into their lives. Luxury could mean just having a little more than those around them – so it always depends on that. I think that learning to use the same charm for unselfish means is the real lesson here.

They are very good with making something out of nothing and can really make money grow.  They are generally very good at attracting the luxury of this world as long as they don’t own it. For example, it’s not uncommon for them to work in charity organizations where they end up collecting the highest donations. Anything they touch with their senses becomes suddenly more valuable. This at times can be true of people – they can elevate someone’s status by being with them! In all cases they are a little behind the scenes and the success largely depends on how much of their emotions they invest.

This brings us to the topic of relationships and marriage. Here the genders should be separated. The women with the 8th house Venus need and want someone who can offer them a cocktail of intoxicating romance which at times is toxic.  What this drug looks like depends on the sign but in all cases a need for a special kind of intimacy is present.  They want someone who is strong enough to accept their love without fear- and be consumed by it. Someone they can trust not to use that against them in anyway. They learned that love is all or nothing- because when younger their love was either rejected and feared or accepted and abused. The best partner for them is someone who can appreciate what they offer while still being strong enough to not let all the passion and desire become too much- In other words someone who is capable of a soul bond but also of setting boundaries. Can you imagine someone like that? Strong enough to let go and keep it together at the same time, now that is magic.

Women here need to be very careful that they marry for the right reasons- as they may give up on the above ideal and settle for someone who is only socially powerful. They may confuse money and power with spiritual strength. As they naturally have that something about them that attracts powerful (controlling) people who just happen to be rich. I’m sorry to say but the low current of such placement tends to marry for money. Unlike the 10th house Venus it is not a real need- they don’t need the luxury they just need to feel protected enough to bond with another person.

Man with this Venus need a partner that is a little complex- someone who is mysterious. They too should be careful they marry or commit for the right reasons- they need to learn to be connected to their hearts desire even if it is hard to understand.

In conclusion, the Venus in the 8th house is that person who will transform themselves many times. They go through stages when all they can do is take from others- and moments of pure despair when one they give isn’t appreciated. They love with passion that is powerful, soulful, poetic and sensitive to the hidden aspects of life.

They can teach others to really enjoy being in love even if it doesn’t feel good. Their love is going to have an element of pain in it- always, but also healing for all the people who were not loved and accepted- and most of all they learn to love themselves with all their faults. As they are truly beautiful in their way of loving even the broken things that can e made whole again. They see the broken parts in other people but they paint them with a fire os passion and rebirth…So they transform the person they love and themselves forever.

Pluto in the First House: Dangerous Beauty

Best quality: The ability to transform

Worst: The ability to destroy

Appearance: Ever changing but the eyes.

Astro-Tip: Stop fearing yourself. Let your feral animal out of the cage and you will find out they are not so dangerous.

What happens when a planet is on your ascendant? It dramatically affects how people perceive you. In the case of Pluto the results are fascinating and sometimes surprising.

Pluto in the first house people are the kind of people who walk into a room- and the air changes. They have a strong presence- both for positive and negative.  It is not about how they look but more to do with the way they hold themselves.  Pluto is seductive- but also dominating. Pluto holds all the secrets of life and death- it is the key. So imagine a person that represents all these dark secrets in their very being. Pluto rising people are usually not aware they have this type of presence or strong effect on people. They may feel hurt and surprised by the way people sometimes fear them- or worse try and dominate and control them!

Why? It is as if other people feel the power and try to protect against it by being controlling or aggressive towards the Pluto rising person.

When they grow up they learn to either repress or mask their presence or they use it to reach their goals. In my experience, the second option is much healthier. Many amazing artists and performers have this placement- they radiate it and use is as a creative vehicle.

How? Pluto is about transformation, the deep and hidden kind, like  that of Scorpio and the 8th house. So they change their look and style every few years- they literally become someone else.  If they are more spiritually evolved they would change and shed their personality and not only their look and style. Some Pluto rising people fall into the trap of plastic surgery and obsession with how they look. A happy Pluto rising person is capable of transforming themselves for the better instead- they work on their character and spiritual growth. They can then influence in their environment- changing it for the better.

My tip for them is to stop trying to control and hide who they are- instead use it for the better. Be creative, live dangerously and change society. For example they can live dangerously only to help others- many medical professionals have this placement. They can use their ability to change to be great actors- turning into their very character with ease. A great example is  Meryl Streep who is known for transforming herself deeply before each role. Or Charlize Theron who changed her appearance  dramatically for “Monster” (2003). The roles both actresses choose reflect Pluto perfectly- dealing with death, sexual trauma, pain and the past.

Some male examples  known to do the same that have Pluto rising are Joaquin  Phoenix who plays characters in conflict or dealing with mental and emotional issues.  In the movie “The master” (2012) he plays a troubled boozy drifter who joins a cult. And who can forget Stephen King? the author known for his horror and supernatural stories who is also mysterious in real life. He also transformed himself greatly from a heavy drug use to a completely sober and successful author.

To improve is to change; to be perfect is to change often.- Winston Churchill

The 8th House: Rising from the Ashes

“I am dead because I lack desire,
I lack desire because I think I possess.
I think I possess because I do not try to give.
In trying to give, you see that you have nothing;Seeing that you have nothing, you try to give of yourself;
Trying to give of yourself, you see that you are nothing:Seeing that you are nothing, you desire to become;
In desiring to become, you begin to live.”
René Daumal

The 8th house is the house of rebirth. Ruled by Scorpio it has all the mysterious characteristics of Pluto associated with it.This is not an easy house for any planet to be in,and yet its very powerful. This placement is like a dark cave,a deep pit with no light. Its an underground placement,so any planet is basically dropped and hidden in the 8th house. A planet no matter the sign that is in the 8th is going to be a “secret”. The potential and the true character is going to be very private and very confusing. Why confusing? mainly because at first it is hidden from you! As you grow older and wiser you would slowly unravel and reveal your own secret self. The planet would show you where you would have to change and grow.

The change through the 8th house is the kind the asks you to die. You must die in order to be reborn, your soul must rise form the dark cave that contains many  desires . Like those of the 8th house: Money, sex and control over others. Then the soul must be born again in a selfless manner. Because this is a Scorpio house then this change and rebirth can be born only through emotions. The problem is that this placement fears emotions more then anything! Scorpio need control over themselves and others to feel safe. But the more a person tries to hold on to this control the harder the death and rebirth process is going to be for them. This is a person that seems very calm and confident, but inside there is a war going on. what kind of war-depends on the planet and sign. If you have this placement you know what I’m talking about.

The 8th house is very much like that cave I described but its also a water house, What this means is that the changes are going to come and go. You will go through storms and periods of calm and happiness-your entire life. What happens many times is that when you are young you just know something-you feel destiny, and you act older then your years as a child. You know things that grown ups don’t want you to know. You understand human pain, but you are still to young to deal with it. Thats why a child with planets here would suppress this emotions. When a little older the intensity of the house manifests as a flood-all the water in the secret cave has to come out. The young person is run by desire to control or get rid of this emotions. This is dangerous and why this house gets a bad reputation. People at this stage use their power of intuition to control others. They do this out of pain not out of any evil desire. The 8th house wants to deal with the dark emotions of humanity but it doesn’t desire to hurt anyone. The person may self harm or become involved with wrong crowd.

The 8th house is “the wrong crowd”! These people understand pain and suffering. They tend to attract people that suffered or are mentally  unstable. At first this kind of involvement allows them to finally use their intuitive talent and to work with it to help others. the problem is that 8th house people are very “unstable” themselves. I mean it in a good way-they need time to clam down after the storm of emotions they live through. Thats why its best for them not to get involved with unstable people. Instead they can work or volunteer in a field such us: mental hospitals, criminal rehabilitation programs, police force, rehab etc…The 8th house makes great worrier and fighters for a cause-but not leaders. for some reason like the ocean  the public favor of this people falls and rises in a very unpredictable manner. Luckily, the 8th house likes to be behind the scenes anyway. When they get older the storms will be few and the power and lessons learned would be many.

This people have presence when they walk into a room and something about them makes them very attractive. They are attractive in the same way a African  lion is attractive to us humans: They know they are powerful but can contain it and spare you your life. If they learn to use their gifts to give others but also not to self abuse-they are the most beautiful souls you will ever meet.

Giving trust is hard for the 8th house and trust is the biggest gift from this people. If you love an 8th house person know that is the greatest gift, because this might as well mean they would die for you. The 8th house likes to keep things behind the scenes so don’t expect them to say things openly.

They like to speak with their eyes or better- with sex. This is a sexual house and sex is one of the only places where this people feel free and at home. This is the place where they rule! And the world is lucky for that. But what the 8th house really wants and searches for is the spiritual experience -that peace and wholeness. They know very little of that peace and they learn to appreciate  it and  find it in the strangest of places. They may use sex and money, two fields they are lucky to be naturally compatible with. But that wont make them happy, the 8th house wants to take the soul into that light they can see in glimpses from the dark cave . they want the waters to take them out into the open. They need to be ready to come out into the light. The light that they will know is brighter then  any other house a planet already resides in. Its the kind of light that only people that have spent years in a dark prison can understand. They need you to be the water-the emotional tide to free them. And the tide is nothing else but the emotion of love.
